Incentive cheque distributed among poor sportspersons

NATORE: Bangabandhu Krirasebi Kalyan Foundation, a trust under the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Tuesday awarded one time incentive cheques to sixteen poor players, athletes and sports organizers of the district. Deputy Commissioner of Natore Md Shahriaz handed over the cheques among the recipients at a function at DC’s conference room. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Islam chaired the function. Deputy Commissioner Md Shah Riaz and Secretary of Zila Krira Sangstha Syeed Mostak Ali Mukul spoke on the occasion. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded the Bangabandhu Krirasebi Kalyan Foundation on August 6, 1975 for welfare of the sports persons and organizers. The trust provides onetime allocation to financially insolvent sportspersons, reports BSS.

Science fair begins in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI: A three-day Science Fair began at the auditorium of Sadar upazila on Tuesday with the slogan “Science and Technology: the vital power of development”. District Administration organised the fair with the assistance of National Museum of Science and Technology on the occasion of 40th National Science and Technology Week. As many as 22 stalls have been set up at the fair premises where at least 50 science projects are being displayed by different educational institutions and science clubs of the district. Deputy Commissioner of Jhalakathi Md Hamidul Haque inaugurated the fair as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner Ariful Islam in the chair. Sadar Upazila Chairman Khan Arifur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tania Ferdous, AL leader Monoar Hossain Khan and teachers and students from different organisations were present, among others, at the function. A good number of visitors including students and ICT experts thronged the fair from the beginning. On the sidelines of the fair, discussion on science, quiz competitions and prize distribution ceremony will be held, reports BSS.
