Photo exhibition starts at Barishal

A two-day long photography exhibition styled “LIFE IN THE FRAME” started at Ashwini Kumar Hall on Sunday morning. Barishal Photography Club (BPC) organised the exhibition where 106 photos of 82 photographers are being displayed, Ram Chandra Das, divisional commissioner, Barishal, inaugurated the programme and SM Ajiar Rahman, DC Barishal, were present as a special guest of the inaugural session of the exhibition. Discussants at the inaugural ceremony and visitors of the exhibition in their speeches and comments, said the photographers tried to focus on different types and diversities of life in Bangladesh. This exhibition was organized to encourage young generation toward photography and promote our art and culture. Photography talks about existences and movements of lives and creation and also showcasing diversity of nature in Bangladesh, said the divisional commissioner. A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it, which in a word we could express as ‘ effective’, said deputy commissioner, Barishal.
Bondhu Kallyan Samity launched in Nilphamari

A voluntary organsation named ‘Bandhu Kallayan Samity’ was launched in Nilphamari from the venue of an Eid re-union at the scout building of Nilphamari Government High School on Saturday. Friends of SSC batch, 1986 of the school and surrounding educational institutions initiated the move to make their friendship bondage everlasting. As first step of their generous activity, they announced to financially support some poor but meritorious students of Hazi Danesh Science and Technology university in Dinajpur every year hailing from Nilphamari . They also vowed to support poor students of other public universities coming from the district in near future after enrolling names and also announced to help their under privileged boyhood friends at time of marriages of daughters and their sickness for treatment. For this purpose, members of the organization raised fund instantly from own subscription. For running the organization, a 21 member of executive committee was formed with renowned construction farm owner Shah Md Anwar as president and government high school teacher Md Imran Ali as member secretary while Dr Md Abu Hasan, head of the department of plant pathology faculty in Hazi Danesh Science and Technology university, Dinajpur was selected as advisor. Kamal Pasha Emu, high officer of IFIC bank, Dhaka conducted the whole program.
Construction worker electrocuted in Chandpur

A construction worker was electrocuted while working on the roof of the multi storied building of Lytton Patwary at West Hajiganj Bazar in Hajiganj Upazila Sqadar on Thursday afternoon. While saving him from danger, his two colleagues were also injured in the same incident. The deceased was identified as Jashimuddin, 26, son of Md Jafor Ali, hailed from Hatila East village in Hajiganj Upazila. The injured were Mohammad Sharif Hossain, 25, of the same home and Abul Hasan ,26, of hammadpur village of Sunamganj. Both are admitted to Hajiganj Health Complex. Contacted, OC Hajiganj Thana Alamgir Hossain told this correspondent that while doing construction works on the roof of the above mentioned building , worker Jashimuddin suddenly contacted live electric wire and he shouted. To save him from danger, Sharif and Hasan rushed and they also sustained injuries.
