Work on two clinics begins in Shaghata
GAIBANDHA: Construction work of two community clinics located at Tepa Padum Sahar North and South villages under Padum Sahar union of Shaghata upazila in the district began on Friday afternoon amid much enthusiasm to the locals. Deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Advocated Fazle Rabbi Miah formally inaugurated the works through laying down the foundation stone of the clinics in the afternoon as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion deputy speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had been working relentlessly since 2009 for overall development of the health sector to build a healthy nation. The community clinics had been established in the rural areas of the country at the cordial efforts of PM Sheikh Hasina and the philosophy of the clinics was to provide primary healthcare services with medicines to the grass level people free of cost, the deputy speaker also said. The deputy speaker also instructed the engineers and the contractors to complete the construction works of the clinics properly and timely. Civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, upazila chairman M. Jahangir Alam, UNO Uzzal Kumar Ghos, acting assistant engineer of Health Engineering Department (HED) M. Nazrul Islam, political leaders and local elite including journalists were present on the occasion. The clinics are being constructed at the cost of TK 53 lakh at the direct supervision of HED under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while government of Bangladesh is providing the fund, office sources said. The works would be finished on September, 2019 it is expected, sources added, reports BSS.
Unprivileged children get Eid clothes in Rangpur
RANGPUR: ‘Firedekha’, a literary cum cultural and social organisation, distributed Eid clothes among 150 unprivileged children at a function held at Town Hall auditorium in the city on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib distributed the clothes among the children of Rangpur city, Gangachara, Kawnia and Pirgachha upazilas of the district in the function as the chief guest. With Adviser of ‘Firedekha’ writer Rezaul Karim Mukul in the chair, its President Emad Uddin Ahmed, noted educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, folklore researcher and writer Anwarul Haque Raju and Office secretary of district Awami League Tauhidur Rahman Tutul addressed the event as special guests. Moderated by General Secretary of ‘Firedekha’ Masud Rana Shakil, Senior journalist Aftab Hossain, poets and socio-cultural activists ASM Habibur Rahman, Sunil Sarker, Mamun Ur Rashid, Dr Samorpita Ghosh Tanya, Nahida Afroz Liza, Sawda Khanom Minu and Habibur Rahman attended the function, reports BSS.
