Iftar Mahfil was held by Friends for Ever, a volunteer organisation, at the Ginger Chinese Restaurant at Joleswaritola area in Bogura on Friday. Lecturer of Sayed Ahmmed University Collage Abdul Awal directed the occasion. The function was presided over by Abu Bakr Siddique, Convener of the organizstion while assistant education officer Bulbul Ahmed spoke as chief guest. Fruit Fair for children held in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: A day-long fruit fair was organised in the district town today for children with the slogan “We need nutrition; we eat native fruits” The purpose of the fair was to introduce native fruits among children and inform them about the various nutrients the fruits contain. Child disease specialist Dr Moniruzzaman Manik inaugurated the fair at CRD School in the town this morning. Honorary Principal A R Asaduzzaman chaired the function. The organizers said the fruit fair will also help children to be acquainted with the names of native fruits both in Bengali and in English. A total of 60 stalls were set up where around 40 native fruits were displayed at the fair. School teacher Nilufer Yasmin, vice Principal Meher Sultana, director of the school Mahmudul Karim, Delwar Jahan and Jakir Hossain spoke, among others, reports BSS.
Rangpur City AL hosts Iftar party in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Rangpur city unit of Awami League (AL) organised an Iftar party, doa mahfil and discussion highlighting importance of the holy month of Ramadan at ‘Shitol Community Centre’ on Friday evening in the city. Leaders and workers of the city and district units of AL, its associate bodies, 14-party alliance, freedom fighters, business community leaders, civil society members, professionals, journalists and local elite were present. With President of Rangpur city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed attended the occasion as the chief guest. General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, its Joint Secretaries Professor Mazed Ali babul and Shahinur Rahman Sohel, Organising Secretary Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Treasurer Abul Kashem and Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Md. Nur Islam, former District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu, President of district Workers’ Party Nazrul Islam Hokkani, General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal, its Organising Secretary Jahangir Alam Tota, among others, were present.
