Girls drown in Satkhira

Two six-year-old girls drowned in a pond in Debhata upazila on Tuesday noon. The deceased were identified asOishi, daughter of Anwarul Islam, and Meem, daughter of Sagar Hossain of the area. Biplop Kumar Saha, in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said that the girls were playing beside the pond and accidently fell into it. Their families later recovered their bodies from the pond.
Kapasia to ensure secure motherhood

Kapasia Upazila Administration in Gazipur organised a discussion meeting on safe maternity rights at Upazila Parishad Hall Room at supported by Upazila Family Planning Division on Tuesday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ismat Ara chaired the meeting as the chief speaker .Among others, Upazila Family Planning Officer Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Medical Officer Dr Abu Hasan Mustafa. Gazipur District BRAC Representative Pranab Kumar Roy and Kapasia BRAC Branch Area Manager Health Nutrition and Population Program Officer Dehydah Jannatul Ferdous were present in the meeting.
10 illegal shops evicted from Chandpur Launch Terminal

The district administration evicted 10 illegal shops from Chandpur Launch Terminal on Tuesday afternoon. Three of the shops were located next to the River Police Station and the rest in Gangways area. Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Al Mahmud Jaman led the drive.
Executive magistrate Azizunnahar, Executive Engineer Amjad Hossain and Officer-in-Charge Abu Taher of River Police Station, were present during the drive. The illegal shops mushroomed over the last few years, locals said.
35 meritorious students get stipend in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A total of 35 poor and disadvantaged students who obtained brilliant results in SSC and equivalent examinations in last 2017 and 2018 were given stipend for their betterments here on Tuesday. Centre for Action Research- Barind (CARB), a non-government organization, provided the stipend in a function at its office at Godagari Upazila in the district. Each of the students were given bank cheques of Taka 12,000. Upazila Chairman Jahangir Alam Prodhan addressed the stipend distribution ceremony as chief guest with CARB Chief Executive Officer Abdur Raquib in the chair. Union Parishads Chairman Ruhul Amin, Headmaster of AFG Girls High School Abdur Rahman and CARB Director Nahida Parveen were also present. In order to build an educated and prosperous nation, the speakers underscored the need for ensuring the right to education for the poor and underprivileged communities, reports BSS.
