BD nat’l team to join SAARC tournament in India

A 26-members delegation of Bangladesh National Team went to india through Benapole checkpost on Saturday noon to participate in 5 SAARC countries throw ball tournament in India. The tournament will be held in five Indian SAARC countries from May 27 to May 29. The team will be returning to the country on 2nd June after finished the tournament. It is known that there are 24 players in the 26-member delegation. The other two are official. Among the Players , there are 11 members of the police, Ansar 6 and jail police 4. Team Manager Masud Hossain Vicky and coach Azam Ali Khan. Team Manager Masud Hossain Vicky said, “We believe our players will win the tournament and bring the country’s reputation.” Besides, this tournament will play a big role in strength relations and friendly relations among neighboring SAARC nations.
Youth confce held at Tanore
RAJSHAHI: Participants at a youth conference here on Thursday resolved that a responsive and effective role of the young generation is very crucial to reaching public services to the grassroots people easily. They said due to lack of adequate knowledge about the public services along with their availing process the grassroots people face problems and harassment in availing those properly. The youths have scopes of doing something better in this regard so that the public can derive total benefits of the services, they added. The participants made the assertions at the conference hosted by Bangladesh Resource Centre for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK), a development organization, in the conference hall of Tanore Upazila Parishad in the district. More than 75 people including 60 youths joined the conference. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Banu, Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun, Agriculture Officer Shafiqul Islam, Social Service Officer Motiur Rahman, Fisheries Officer Shahadul Islam, BARCIK Regional Coordinator Shahidul Islam and its Programme Officer Zahid Ali addressed the meeting as resource persons. The speakers unanimously mentioned that youth leadership can be the vital means of making the public services accessible to the targeted population. They also said importance should be given to generating community leadership from among the youths to bring a qualitative change everywhere in society. , reports BSS.
3 food sellers fined, one held in Barishal

Mobile court of Barishal district administration operating drives in Nathullabad area of Barishal city on Thursday fined three food sellers and jailed owner of one after he failed to pay the fine. Syed Enamul Huq, sanitary inspector and food safety inspector of Barishal City Corporation, accompanying the mobile court led by Rumpa Ghosh, administrative magistrate of district administration, said these. He told the court fined Mizanur Rahman, owner of Boishakhi Birani House, Tk 15 thousand and Shahidul Islam, owner of Chamak Hotel Tk 10 thousand for preparing food in unhygienic condition mixing unhealthy items injurious for health. On other hand Faizur Rahman, owner of Day Night Hotel of the area, also fined Tk.20 thousand for the same cause. However, he later jailed for seven days after expressed his inability to pay the fine, the court sources said.
