10 shopkeepers fined, 20 kg rotten dates seized

A mobile court led by DC Majedur Rahman Khan fined a trader Tk five thousand at Paul’s Bazar- a busy and bustling bazar in Chandpur town , on charge of his selling rotten dates on Thursday afternoon on the occasion of Ramzan. The rotten dates were seized. Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Al Mahmud Jaman and UNO Sadar Kanij Fatema were with him at that time. DC along with them visited all other shops , vegetable shops, kitchen markets at this Bazar and later visited Biponi Bagh Bazar, a big hub of fish and kitchen markets in the town as part of market monitoring by the civil administration. The team inspected the standard of food items in the shops, fruits and fishes and warned the traders against adulteration in food- items that cause health hazards to people. On the other hand, a Mobile Court led by Faridganj Upazila’s Executive Magistrate Mamota Afrin fined nine grocers Tk 25 thousand on charge of their selling sub -standard essential goods and a few other irregularities in their grocery shops at Gridokalindiya Bazar- a growing rural market in Faridganj today, Thursday afternoon.
One held with Yaba tablets in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) arrested an alleged drug trader with 745 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from Khordo Bhutchhara Majhpara area in Kawnia upazila in the district last evening. “On a tip-off, an operational team of the crime prevention special company of RAB-13 conducted a sudden raid there, seized the Yaba tablets and arrested the drug trader,” a press release of RAB-13 said on Friday. The arrested person was identified as Md. Asadul Islam, 26, son of Tazul Islam of Khordo Bhutchhara Majhpara in Kawnia upazila. The elite force also seized one mobile phone set, two SIM cards and one memory card from the possession of the drug trader. After filing a case in this connection against the arrested person, the elite force handed him over to Kawnia Thana police, the release added, , reports BSS.
Inception workshop on leprosy held in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: An inception workshop on Proyash-Accelerating Leprosy Services Project and Mobilisation and Empowerment of People with Disabilities (MEPD) Project was held at the Conference Room of Civil Surgeon (CS) here on Thursday afternoon. CS office and The Leprosy Mission International Bangladesh jointly arranged the workshop. CS Dr. ABM Abu Hanif presided over the function while deputy director of Local Government Section of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office Rokhsana Begum addressed the ceremony as the chief guest. President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) district unit, Dr. Shahiduzzaman Harun, Superintendent of GaibandhaSadar Hospital Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Sadar UNO Uttam Kumar Roy, Sundarganj upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Yakub Ali Morol, and resident medical officer of Sadar hospital Dr. Shahinul Islam were present at the event as the special guests.
