View exchange meet on sexual abuse held in Rajshahi

A view exchange meeting titled ‘To prevent children sexual abuse on online’ was held in Rajshahi on Monday. Association for Community Development (ACD) under the project named ‘To resist sexual abuse through misusing the internet and the tourism’, organised the meeting at the conference room of ACD. The ACD Director (Finance) Ponkoj Karmakar addressed the function while the organisation’s executive director Shalima Sharower presided over. The programme officer of the organisation Abdul Lotif delivered welcome speech and moderated the programme. Later, ACD prorgamme manager Ali Hossain screened a power point presentation where the project’s purpose, activities of ACD, the present situation of children in Bangladesh, children and women oppression types, relaxation of existing law in the country were seen. At the function, speakers said that sexual harassment now turns into a social disorder. Almost children nowadays are using two or more SIM-cards and mobile phone sets in which they are being harassed in a different way. At that time, they also urged the guardians to being aware adequately about children and gave a suggestion to observe the children’s regular activities on online. Children will remain secure from sexual harassment if the guardians monitor them properly.
Voluntary org ‘Manobotar Bondhone Rangpur’ launched
RANGPUR : A voluntary organisation ‘Manobotar Bondhone Rangpur’ was launched here on Wednesday evening aiming at standing beside the poor and distressed people in the society. Commence Minister Tipu Munshi formally launched journey of the organisation at a colourful function held at Zila Parishad Community Centre as the chief guest. Later, an Iftar mahfil participated by 100 orphans of the city was arranged on the launching day of the organisation. Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP), Rangpur City Community Policing Committee and District Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association (DHROA) jointly took the initiative of launching the organisation. Under the initiative, the organisation will serve foods to fifty poor and distressed people every day with hygienic and improved diets to be donated by different hotels and restaurants of the city. Commissioner of RpMP Abdul Alim Mahmud presided over the function participated by officials of the district and divisional level civil and police administrations, leaders of different trade organisations, politicians, civil society members and elite of the city. Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Addition DIG Mazid Ali, Commanding Officer of RAB-13 Mozammel Haque, Zila Parisahd Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Acting Deputy Commissioner Ruhul Amin Mian, President of city Awami League Shafiur Rahman Shafi, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rezaul Islam Milon, President of DHROA Abdul Mazid Khokan, President of ‘Manobotar Bondhone Rangpur’ Jamir Uddin, its General Secretary Shushanto Bhowmick attended the function.
Highly appreciating the innovative idea, the Commerce Minister hoped that the organisation would uphold the values of humanism of the Bangalees by serving the suffering humanity.
