Digital Innovation Fairs-2015 was ended aiming to motivate and sensitize the people on ICT-based services to supplement the government’s efforts to build “Digital Bangladesh” as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.” on Tuesday under Bogra Sadar upazila. The fair began Sunday. Presided over assistant deputy commissioner Sufia Nazim in Bogra Zilla School premises. Since 2010, the Digital Innovation Fair is held every year aiming to involve rural people in the ICT based services, assistant deputy Commissioner Sufia Nazim said adding, the digital innovation fairs held in previous years got huge response from grassroots level people. “We hope the digital innovations fairs will contribute significantly to build “Digital Bangladesh,” she added. Deputy commissioner Safiqur Reza Biswas said this digital fair held for three days, which started from 10am and continue till 8am. Different government and private organizations set up stalls at the fairs aiming to display their ICT-based innovations, he added.
2 killed in Habiganj road crash

At least two people were killed in a road crash on Sylhet-Sylhet highway at Madhabpur upazila under Habiganj district on Sunday noon. The dead were identified as- Safi Mia, 40 and Masuk Mia ,42 of the area. The incident took place at the area at around 2.30 pm while a head on collision was occurred between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a local vehicle at Shahpur area in the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shaestaganj highway police confirmed the dead adding another five people were also injured in the incident.
526 rawhides seized at Benapole

Members of Border Guard (BGB) in a drive seized 526 goat rawhides foiling a smuggling bid at Putkhali border point on Wednesday morning. Acting on secret information that huge goat hides were being smuggled to India, a team of BGB-23 conducted a drive in the bordering area and seized 526 pieces of goat rawhides in the morning, said commanding officer of BGB-23 Lieutenant Colonel Abdur Rahim.
Man killed in Natore road crash

A man was crushed under the wheels of a truck in Chhatni Bazar area of sadar upazila on Wednesday morning. The deceased was indentified as Faruque, 35, a tea seller of the area. Quoting witnesses, police said the accident took place when the truck hit the man in the area in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot. Police arrested the driver and seized the truck.
Netrakona farmers busy sowing boro seeds

The farmers in the district are passing busy time sowing Boro seeds in their farm lands since the first week of the current month. According to District Agriculture Extension Department (DAE), a massive programme was undertaken by the government during the current Boro season to produce over 7 lakh tonnes of Boro rice in Netrakona district. To attain the Boro rice production, a target was fixed by the DAE to cultivate Boro paddy on 180,038 hectares of land in 10 upazilas of the district. Of the total, 170,492 hectares of land have been earmarked for cultivating high yielding variety (HYV), 8,999 hectares for hybrid variety and 547 hectares for the local variety.
BNCC training camp begins in Rajshahi

A 14-day annual training course of Mohasthan Regiment of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) began at the playground of Bangladesh Postal Academy in Rajshahi city yesterday. A total of 386 cadets including 64 females from 75 educational institutions in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions are taking part in the training. Besides, some army officers, territorial force officers, professor under officers and teacher are participating at the course.
Main thrust of the training is to enhance moral and mental strength of the cadets along with equipping them with discipline and leadership characteristics. Commander of Mohashthan Regiment Lt Col Iqbal Hossain, who inaugurated the course as the chief guest, urged the cadets to involve themselves in the nation building activities in a disciplined manner by making the good use of the knowledge to be gained during the training. Besides, he said the BNCC members could play a pivotal role in protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty. He said the training would help the BNCC members build a disciplined lifestyle both in working and academic life.
