Putin raises possibility of meeting Ukraine leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin has raised the possibility of meeting Ukraine’s president-elect in a sign Moscow might want to improve relations that soured after its 2014 annexation of Crimea.
Putin said Saturday if they meet, he and Volodymyr Zelenskiy should discuss how to end Ukraine’s conflict with Russian-backed separatists in its southeast.

Taiwan’s President reaffirms anti-nuclear stance at march

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has reaffirmed her opposition to nuclear power before marching with anti-nuclear protesters.
Tsai said at a news conference Saturday that her administration was taking efforts to promote renewable energy sources and reduce the need for nuclear power.

Mozambique hit by new cyclone; 4 dead

Heavy rains lashed northern Mozambique on Saturday in the wake of Cyclone Kenneth as aid groups warned of possible flooding and mudslides in the days ahead.
At least four deaths had been reported. Mozambique’s disaster authorities said one person was killed in Pemba city and another in hard-hit Macomia district, while residents on Ibo island said two people died there.
A large number of homes in parts of northernmost Cabo Delgado province were destroyed, with electricity cut and at least one key bridge collapsed.
