Onion-laden truck torched in Jessore

Miscreants set fire to an onion laden truck after hurling bombs at Dhopakhola on Jessore- Benapole Road on Monday morning. Front side of the truck was burnt before the fire fighters doused fire, said the police and transport workers. Reshma Sharmin, assistant superintendent of police told that blockaders attacked a goods laden truck while it was going to Dhaka from Satkhira in the morning. Sabdul Hossain, driver of the truck told that the truck came under bomb and arson attack while it was going to Dhaka from Satkhira carrying onion. Journalists in a rally demanded withdrawal of cases filed against Tariqul Islam, standing committee member, BNP and publisher, Daily Loksamaj and his son Aninda Islam Amit who is also the Executive Editor of the daily. The rally was held at Jessore Press Club on Monday noon where Anwarul Kabir Nantu, Acting Editor of the Daily presided.
Youngman electrocuted in Fakirhat

A young man named Lyton Shaikh (22) met his tragic end when he was electrocuted in the village Chakuli under Fakirhat Upazila in the district on Sunday afternoon. Locals said that on the day while ill-fated Lyton Shaikh, son of one Lutfar Shikh of the village was trying to stop the switch of a power pump machine with which water was being supplied to his cultivable lands, some how, he touched the electricity and was electrocuted. 2 killed in Habiganj road crash

At least two people were killed in a road crash on Sylhet-Sylhet highway at Madhabpur upazila under Habiganj district on Sunday noon. The dead were identified as- Safi Mia, 40 and Masuk Mia ,42 of the area. The incident took place at the area at around 2.30 pm while a head on collision was occurred between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a local vehicle at Shahpur area in the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shaestaganj highway police confirmed the dead adding another five people were also injured in the incident.
BNCC training camp begins in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A 14-day annual training course of Mohasthan Regiment of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) began at the playground of Bangladesh Postal Academy in Rajshahi city on Monday. A total of 386 cadets including 64 females from 75 educational institutions in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions are taking part in the training. Besides, some army officers, territorial force officers, professor under officers and teacher are participating at the course. Main thrust of the training is to enhance moral and mental strength of the cadets along with equipping them with discipline and leadership characteristics. Commander of Mohashthan Regiment Lt Col Iqbal Hossain, who inaugurated the course as the chief guest, urged the cadets to involve themselves in the nation building activities in a disciplined manner by making the good use of the knowledge to be gained during the training. Besides, he said the BNCC members could play a pivotal role in protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty. He said the training would help the BNCC members build a disciplined lifestyle both in working and academic life. They should work relentlessly with the motto of building the youths as competent future leaders to carry forward the nation’s hopes and aspirations to the coveted goal, he added. ‘You have a vital role to play to prevent the youngsters from various social crimes like drug-addiction and eve-teasing,’ he said, adding that the society could be built as healthy and sound through their noble efforts, reports BSS.
