Training course for drivers begins in Munshiganj
MUNSHIGANJ: A two-day training programme for local drivers of different vehicles begins at Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium here on Sunday. Bangladesh Road and Transport Authority (BRTA) Munshiganj Circle has organised the training course. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Munshiganj M Saiful Hasan Badal formally inaugurated the training course as the chief guest with AKM Sawkat Alam Majumder, additional district magistrate, in the chair.A total of 150 drivers of different vehicles, including bus and truck, are participating in the training course, reports BSS.

Monirampur Press Club EC member Asaduzzaman Royal was injured by terrorists on Tuesday. He came under attack when he was coming to his office from home on at about 10 am on Tuesday . According to the witness , led by terrorist Abdur Rahman and 5/6 others went his house and hindered his way . Sensing on an information officer- in -charge of Monirampur police went to the spot with force and rescued and admitted him at Monirampur Hospital. Receiving the news from a source Upazila Parishad chairman Amzad Hosen Lavlu went to the Hospital and inquired about his treatment. On the other hand, AL. Upazila President principal Kazi Mahamudul Hasan and Pourashava Mayor Shahid Iqbal Hosen slated and protested the unlawful activity of the terrorists.
Housewife ‘commits suicide’ in Jessore
JESSORE: A housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room in Samandhakathi village of Sharsha upazila on Sunday night. The deceased was indentified as Laboni Khatun, 19, wife of Babul Sheikh of the area.Ohiduzzaman, Sub-inspector of Sharsha Police station, said Laboni committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room around 8pm over family feud.She was married to Babul Sheik nine months ago.Police recover the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital for autopsy, reports UNB.
Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day observed in Faridpur

Homecoming day of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Pakistani prison where he was kept in confinement for than nine months was observed on Saturday in a befitting manner. In this connection district Awami League brought out a colorful rally in the town which paraded the streets of the town celebrating the homecoming.The rally was followed by a discussion meeting chaired by Sadar upazilla chairman and Awami League leader Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor while it was addressed, among others, by local Awami League leaders Mainuddin Ahmed Manu, Kh. Nazmul Islam Levy, Advocate Zahid Bepary, Sk. Abdul Jalil and Shamshul Alom Chowdhury. Speakers addressing the rally said that return of Bangabandhu on January 10, 1972 was a blessing for the newly born country after a bloody liberation war against the Pakistanis.Had Bangabandhu’s return was delayed then the country might face some sort of uncertainties. So, his return was most cherished at that critical time.
Winter clothes distributed Mehendiganj

Winter clothes were distributed among freedom fighters at Mehendiganj upazila health complex in the district on Satuyrday. US expatriate Bangladeshi and freedom fighters’ commander of US unit Dr Abdul Baten sponsored the winter clothes distribution. Freedom fighters Kamal Uddin Khan (mayor of Mehendiganj paurasava), Sardar Anisur Rahman and Md Nazrul Islam were present on the occasion.
Speaking briefly on the occasion, Dr Baten said he was very happy to do something for the valiant freedom fighters. He said the present government has worked a lot for the welfare of the freedom fighters.
