One killed over land dispute

A man was killed and five others were injured over land dispute at Gafargaon under Mymensingh recently. In this connection, Pagla Thana police arrested one person . This incident took place at Patlasi village of Neguari Union in Pagla Thana under Gafargaon Upazila . Local sources said , Muktijuddah Riaj Uddin Akanda alongwith his brother Siraj Uddin Akanda were involved in land dispute for many days. On the day of incident , two parties quarreled with one another party . Getting news, Sultan Akanda, son of late Ajim Uddin Akanda was coming home with his wife. On the way, Siraj Uddin with his two sons Babu and Shihab attacked them.

Three held over Sylhet gang rape

Police have arrested three accused over gang-rape case on Monday night from Bankalapara in Sylhet city. The arrestees are Nizam Uddin, son of Safar Ali of Moiyarchar, Anwar Hossain Jalil, son of Golam Mustafa of Bankalapara, Dudu Mia, son of Tamil Khan of Jalshoka village in Habiganj. Nizam and Dudu are living in Bankalapara. Additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropoliton police Zadan Al Musa said that accused took over the girl from her nice house on Sunday night. Meanwhile, they beat up her brother-in-law. Later they took away the girl in a lane and raped her in turn. He said that on Monday the victim filed a case with the Airport Police station. Police arrested three accused. After appearing before court, the judge ordered them to send to jail.

Ice-cream factory beside toilet sealed off, fined

An ice cream factory beside Toilet was sealed off and Tk 50 thousand was fined at Hajiganj Sadar Bazar recently. Acting on a tip off, AC Land and also Executive Magistrate Ziaul Islam suddenly launched a drive in the Ice Cream Factory on Degree College Road and examined the papers, cover packs with trade marks of renowned ice cream factories in Dhaka, colours and other goods and materials, needed for making ice creams, and seized the fake packs and fake cover papers of that renowned ice cream ,sweetmeats and curds factories in Dhaka and then sealed off the factory itself beside the toilet. It was discovered that the ice cream factory has no legal papers to run the business nor any approval papers/certificate from BSTI. The Magistrate said, the owner was fined Tk 50 thousand as per Consumers Rights Act. Contacted, UNO Boishakhi Barua told this correspondent that on getting many allegations and complaints against this factory, she sent the Executive Magistrate to look into the matter and then sealed off this factory.

Work on 5 Muktijoddha Complexes in Pirojpur completed

PIROJPUR: Construction works of Muktijoddha Bhaban Complexes in five upazilas of the district were completed while three more Complexes including one in district headquarters would be completed during the current fiscal year. Officials said the government has undertaken the project of Muktijoddha Bhaban Complex in seven upazilas of the district at a cost of Taka 19 crore aimed at projecting the history of the Liberation War and welfare of the Freedom Fighters. Upazila level complexes are being constructed by Local Government Engineering Department while Public Works Department is constructing the Muktijoddha Complex at district headquarters. Constriction works of Muktijoddha Complexes at Mathbaria, Bhandaria, Kaokhali, Nesarabad and Indurkani upazilas have already been completed and handed over to the Muktijoddha Sangsad. Construction of the Complexes at Pirojpur district town and Nazirpur would be completed during the current fiscal year. Every Upazila Muktijoddha Complex built at a cost of Tk 2.30 crore would have a market at ground floor, a Muktijoddha Sangsad Office on the second floor, reports BSS.
