Residential art exchange programme ends

A week-long residential art exchange programme participated by artists from different sectors of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh ended at historical and abandoned Lakhutia Zamindar House premises in Barisal on Friday afternoon. It was started at that venue from January 2. Visual and performing artists, painters, photographers, writers, musicians named Aditi Gupta(architect and art history researcher), Sisir Thapa (modern contemporary installations expert) from India, Hamida Khatri ( painter and puppet figure creator) from Pakistan, Tasmin Chowdhury (contemporary textile design installer and art director) , Farhad Rahman, Fahad al Alam( photographers) , Shahriar Shihab ( poet and writer), Nazim Uddin Khan (researcher and wild life photographer ), Chandra Sukhen (painter), Ali Asgor Nayon ( print making and performing artist) from Bangladesh participated at this programme.
9 leaders of 20 -party alliance held

The members of the law enforcement agencies have arrested at least nine leaders and activities of BNP-led 20 Party alliance from different areas in the town on Tuesday night and Wednesday, police and local sources said. Pro-blockade activists set fire on a Isha-Kha Express Train and passenger bus, auto- rickshaw were torched in the town. The arrested persons were identified as Poura Counciller Ashraful Islam Shamim, Joba Dol Leader Mustak Ahmed Shahin, Milon, Rafiq, Rongu Miah, Musrubin, Alamgir, Bakul and Wahid. Two cases were field in this connection with Model Police Station and G.R.P Thana. They were sent to District Jail.
Local Governence Project workshop held
Kishoreganj District Administration UPGP and ULPG, a project of UNDP jointly organised a workshop on ‘Union Parished and Upazila Parished service relative, Democracy’, Transperancy’ held at local collectorate conference room on Thusday noon. Deputy Commissioner S.M Alam presided over the workshop. Deputy Director & Deputy Secretary of Local Government Md. Emdadul Hoque Chowdhury, ADM Abdul Wadud Chowdhury, ADC (Rev) Kazi Abed Hossain attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by ADC (Genl) Md. 5 crude bombs recovered in Jhenidah
Jhenidah: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered five crude bombs from a house at Defalbaria village in sadar upazila on Friday. Acting on secret information that a group of miscreants were taking preparation to carry out sabotage at the village, a team of RAB-6 conducted a raid on the house of Kawsar Mandal early this (Friday) morning and recovered five crude bombs in an abandoned condition, said Commander Squadron Leader Niaz Mohammad Faisal of RAB-6 Jhenidah camp. No one was arrested as the miscreants managed to flee sensing the presence of the elite force. The miscreants might have kept the bombs there to carry out sabotage somewhere in the district town, said RAB, reports UNB.
