Indian sarees, hemps worth Tk 8 lakh seized in M’bazar

BGB seized 265 pieces smuggled Indian sarees and hemps worth Tk 12 lakh, from Surma Mail in Srimangal Rail station under Srimangal Upazila of the district on Friday around 12pm. Lt. Cornel Kazi Arman Hosain, 55 no BGB confirmed the Daily News Nation.He said .a BGB team conducted a drive in the area in the quiet of Indian saree and hemps worth Tk 8 lakh were seized from down mail train. A case was filed in this connection. Robbers loot 3 shops in Moulvibazar Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 4lakh from three shops at Saifur Rahman road area in Sadar Upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday .According to sources about 10/12 robbers looted valuables from Central pharmacy, Ruma Cloth Store and Hasi Cloth Store to took valuables worth around tk 4 lakh from in the Upazila town. The gang cut open the window grills and entered the shops.When contacted, Office-in-charge Md. Abdul Hay, Moulvibazar police station said, police visited the place. Shops owner filed case .
College girl commits suicide by jumping from rooftop in Barisal

A college girl committed suicide by jumping from rooftop of her home
in the city on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Homaira Himu, 17, female higher secondary student of Barisal Model School and College and daughter of Helaluddin, of Charadi Bakerganj. Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge and family sources said Himu was living with her parents in a rented house on 3rd floor
of Khan Manzil at Bangla Bazaar area of the city. She was engaged in altercations over her love affairs with her mother on early Thursday. In the morning at about 11:00 am Himu jumped from the rooftop of the building. Family members with the help of locals recovering Himu brought to Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and attending doctor declared her as dead. The dead body after autopsy handed over to family members after lodging a case of unnatural death. Police visiting the spot recovered a suicide note, the police officer said.
Cake festival held in Jhenidah

A day long cake festival was held at Farashpur government primary school ground under Kaligonj upazila in Jhenidah on Wednesday. Joibo Krishok Samabaya Samittee a platform of the organic farmers, had arranged the programme. Huge traditional and local cakes, widely known as Pitha were exhibited there. Presided over by the chairman of Niamatpur union parishadd Sazedul Haque, Kaliganj upazila parishad acting chairman Tithi Rani Biswas attended as chief guest. Among others were upazila youth development officer Mizanur Rahman, Khondokar Johurul Islam, Hamidul Islam, Nurul Islam, Tipti Biswas, Abdus Sabur, Nurul Islam, Motiar Rahman spoke. Six persons including three women were provided bank cheque for their contribution in producing crops applying vermi-compost (produced from earth worms) in Kaliganj upazila. The chief guest handed over crests, cheques for Taka 10,000, certificates to the success farmers Manwara Begum, Rebeka Khatun, Hazera Begum, Asadul Islam, Samsul Islam and Helal Uddin under the upazila.
