Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea postponed till March 26

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed the verdict of jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif”s application seeking bail on medical grounds till March 26, according to media reports.
Sharif filed an appeal on March 6 against a judgment by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which on February 25 rejected his bail application on medical grounds in the Al-Azizia steel mills case.
Paris ties S’pore, HK as world’s priciest cities

Indonesia flood death toll rises to 100

The death toll from flash floods and landslides that tore through Indonesia’s Papua region has topped 100 with dozens more still missing, the disaster agency said Wednesday.
Nearly 10,000 people have moved to shelters while at least 104 victims are confirmed to have died and 79 are unaccounted for in the aftermath of the disaster, triggered by heavy rain on Saturday.
Taliban kill 6 Pak paramilitary troops

Pakistani authorities say militants overran a remote security outpost in southwestern Baluchistan province, killing six members of the paramilitary forces.
The Pakistani Taliban – known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan – claimed responsibility for the attack in Ziarat district early on Wednesday morning, saying in an Urdu-language statement that it was revenge for the deaths earlier of their comrades at the hands of the paramilitary Baluchistan Levies Force.
2 Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli troops

The Israeli military says it has shot and killed two Palestinians who attacked troops in a West Bank city.
The military says several explosive devices were hurled on Wednesday morning at soldiers securing Jewish worshippers at Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus. Troops opened fire and killed two of the assailants.
