2 hemp traders jaild in Phulbari

A mobile court in Phulbari upazila in Dinajpur on Thursday convicted two drug peddlers for two months rigorous imprisonment each for trading hemp. The court led by upazila nirbahi officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Moniruzzaman hended down the punishment. The convictived are Muktar Hossain (24), son of Samser Ali, in village west gouripara and Sumon Mondal (20), son of Moyej Mondal village Shalgram village in Phulbari upazila in dinajpur district. Tipped-of the mobile court drived in the uttar sujapur area near Phulbari bus stand and arrested two along with hemp on Thursday 1st January, said Officer-In-Charge (Investigation) of Phulbari police station Sheikh Mohammad Golam Mostafa.
Students receive new textbooks in Sylhet

Primary and secondary school students today received textbooks in the district on the first day of the new year-2015. Total 1,24,33124 pices books distributed in Sylhet Division. After getting promotion to new classes, the students were seen celebrating the day by turning over the leaves of new textbooks that they had received on the first day of the calendar year. Teachers and guardians of the students were also seen sharing cheers with the students who were overwhelmed after getting new textbooks in their hands. Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Sajjadul Hasan formally inaugurated the “Book Festival” at city’s Agrogami Government Girls School by distributing textbooks among the students at around 9am. DC of Sylhet Md Shohidul Islam, Deputy Director of Sylhet Education Board Jahangir Kobir Ahmed, Head teacher Babli Purkayasto among others, were present on the occasion.The authorities of different schools, however, started distribution of textbooks among the students around 10am. Sajjadurl Hasan said, textbooks could not be reached some schools because of the hartal and the students of those schools would get their textbooks within a few days.
Miladunnabi observed in Sylhet
The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SM) was observed here yesterday with due religious fervour, solemnity and fresh call for following ideals of the greatest man on earth Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB), Ahle Sunnat Wale Jamaat, different institutions and organisations, mosque authorities, literary and religious bodies chalked out elaborate daylong programmes in observance of the Day. The major mosques were colorfully illuminated and the IFB organised competitions of Hamd and Naat-e-Rasul and religious songs for students of different educational institutions and prizes were distributed among the winners. The district office of the IFB in association with different religious organisations brought out Jashne Juluse Eid-e-Miladunnabi, a colourful procession in the main streets of the divisional city. The IFB organised the main seminar on the life and deeds of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) at its auditorium and many other organisations arranged discussions and the authorities of different madrasas chalked out similar programmes.
10 Molotov cocktails recovered in Rajshahi
Rajshahi: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 10 Molotov cocktails (petrol bomb) and 24 crude bombs from beside a graveyard near Rajshahi University early Monday. Senior assistant superintendent of police Khaleda Begum said on a tip-off, a team of Rab-5 led by senior assistant superintendent of police Mirza Golam Sarwar conducted a drive in the area and recovered the bombs around 2:25 am, reports UNB.
