Hundi trader held at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Hundi trader along with Tk 8 lakh at Chtoachra village in Benapole Port police station on yesterday morning. The arrestee is Hamjer Ali, 35, son of Dukhu Boidyo of Khalshi Border village in Benapole. He is the international Hundi trader. Ariful Haque , Commanding officer, 49 Border guard Bangladesh said BGB men conducted a drive in the area and arrest Hamjer ali with a motorbike. BGB search his body and recovered eight Lakh Hundi taka from his possession while he was Coming from border area with the money. Later, the border guards handed him over to Benapole Port police station with Money. A case was filed.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Day was celebrated yesterday through various programmes on the campus. Vice Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the event, participated by students, employees, officers and teachers. Marking the 28th anniversary, the university wore a festive look. Various cultural organisations also arranged the day with some programmes like photography exhibition by Shahjalal University Photographers Association, Pitha Utsob by Aaj Muktomoncho, Concert by RIM Musical Club etc. University authority’s daylong programmes included hoisting of national and university flags, a colourful procession and cake cutting. Prof Dr. Akhtarul Islam, Prof Dr. Syed Shamsul Alam, the newly elected president of Shahjalal University Teachers’ Association- (SUTA) Prof Dr. Saiful Islam were present in the programmes.

Police Service Week ends at Gopalganj

A seven days long Police Service Week ended in Gopalganj recently.  The programme organised by District Police Administration, Gopalganj.  On the occasion of the programme they brought out a colourful rally. The rally paraded main roads in the city. Police Administration, District Administration, Political leaders, local elites and local people attended the rally Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP), Gopalganj attended and led the rally of the inaugural programme.
