Roundtable on technical training, job placement held

A roundtable discussion was organised on technical training, job placement at Deputy Commissioner Office Conference Room organised by Practical Action, an NGO in Rangpur on Sunday . With the funding support from European Commission, Practical Action, an NGO and RDRS Bangladesh and government Technical Training Centers (TTCs) assist the programme . Enamul Habib, Deputy Commissioner, Rangpur district was the Chief Guest and moderator of this round table discussion. Syed Enamul Kabir, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Rangpur chaired the event. In the beginning the principal of Rangpur Technical Training Center, Md. Lutfar Rahman presented about the ongoing activities of Rangpur TTC. After that Md. Nehal Azmat Mohee, Regional Manager and Md. Rafiquel Islam, Vocational Education and Job placement Specialist from Practical Action presented a brief presentation on Practical Action and the project activities. Arefa Parvin, Programme Officer, ADD international also presented a brief presentation . Momtaz Uddin, President of Rangpur District Awami League; Amena Parvin, Assistant Director, District Employment and Manpower Office, Rangpur; Dilgir Alam, Deputy Director, Dpt. of Youth Development; Partha Bose, Director, RCCI; Principal, TSC Rangpur; Md. Matiur Rhman, District Facilitator, UNDP; Rangpur; Md. Abdul Mannan, Assistant General Secretary, RSLMU; representatives form BSCIC; Instructors from different trades of TTC Rangpur; Rakibul Bahar, District Coordinator, RDRS Bangladesh, Rangpur; other staff of Practical Action, Rangpur Regional office and RDRS Bangladesh; other social elites and representatives from both print and electronic media were present in that roundtable discussion.
2 college students held with Yaba in Sunamganj
SYLHET: Police arrested two college students along with 90 Yaba tablets from Mallikpur area in Sunamganj district town on Sunday evening. The arrestees are Shakhawat Hossain, son of Abdul Motaleb and Shahjahan Miah, son of Jamal Hossain, residents of Tahirpur upazila and students of North East Ideal College. Md Shahidullah, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, said that a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo along with the Yaba. During primary interrogation, the two arrestees revealed the names of two suspected Yaba traders- Suma Akhter Sumi, daughter of Jahur Alam Jaku of Dolura village in Sadar upazila and Alam Sabbir, son of late Abdur Rashid of Binnakuli village in Tahirpur upazila. They brought the Yaba tablets from Sumi to send those to Sabbir, said the arrestees. Later, police filed a case accusing the four with Sadar Police Station, reports UNB.
Slaughtered deer seized in Sundarbans
BAGERHAT: The Forest Department recovered a slaughtered spotted deer from Kagar Varani area of Mongla Upazila in the district recently . In-charge of Choraputia camp of Sundarbans, Md Ismail Hossain said they saw an empty boat on Gakar Varani channel during their regular patrolling and recovered a slaughtered deer, 200 traps used for deer poaching and permits of three fishermen. A case was filed with a Bagerhat court. With the latest recovery, authorities have now seized 85kg deer meat from Sundarbans in the last three weeks, reports UNB.
