Metal workshop materials, safety equipment distributed

A total of 68 set of metal workshop business support materials and safety equipment have been distributed funded from European Commission, under the project, Securing Employment and Economic Development around Jute Textile and Light Engineering Sector in North-West Bangladesh on Wednesday. A day long training was also organised at the Practical Action, Rangpur Regional office, Bangladesh Bank More. Principal of Rangpur Technical Training Centre, Engr. Md. Lutfor Rahman was present as chief guest and formally distributed the equipment among the Metal Workshop owners came from Rangpur, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram. These metal workshop owners are involved form the beginning of the project, received other trainings and are participating in project supported different development activities of light engineering and Jute textile sector. President, General Secretary and Joint General Secretary of Rangpur Zila Lathe Machine Sromic Union were also present in the programme. Regional Manager of Practical Action, Rangpur regional office Md. Nehal Azmat Mohee chaired the programme. Engineer Farm Power Specialist of Practical Action Mr. Rejaul Karim facilitated the day long training occupational health and safety issue.
Workshop on rights , dev of ethnic , minorities held

A two-day long workshop supported by Human Rights Programme (HRP) -UNDP on rights and development issues of ethnic and excluded minorities living in plane land was organised by Bangladesh Betar recently. The theme of the workshop was to create awareness among the minorities group about their rights and developments through radio programmes. Twenty youth leaders from seven different ethnic and excluded groups such as Garo, santal, Hajong, Khasia, Mahato, Dolit and Horijon were participated in the workshop. They were given information about Bangladesh Betar programmes and taught them practically how to produce radio programmes. Human Rights Programme -UNDP will be broadcasted 112 radio programmes within 20 minutes duration from Commercial Service, Bangladesh Betar, Dhaka including five regional stations like Khulna, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet. Mr. Narayan Chandra Shil, Director General of Bangladesh Betar and Mrs. Sharmeela Rassool, Chief Technical Advisor of HRP were jointly inaugurated the ceremony. The inaugural session was chaired by D. Mir Shah Alam, Director Commercial Service, and Mr. Kamal Ahmed, Director (Programme) along with others officials’ and representative from UNDP were presented in the workshop.
