Bomb wounds four including two children

Four people including two minor aged children were wounded in a bomb explosion at Jhanpa Pachchimpara area under Monirampur upazila on Monday evening. The wounded were identified as Fatema, 7, her mother Labini Akhter, 23, Rassel, 6 and his mother Dilara Begum, 28 of the village. Dilara Begum told newsmen that they were wounded in a bomb explosion while her child Rassel and niece Fatema picked up a live bomb kept near their residence. Abdur Rashid, medical officer, Jashore General Hospital told that the children received critical bomb wounds. But the conditions of their mothers are not bad. Shahidul Islam, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told that the police were investigating about the incident.
Village Fair held in Agoiljhara

More than 239-year old Village Fair with traditional marble-playing competition was held at Ramanander Aak village in Rajihar Union of Agoiljhara upazila in Barishal on Tuesday. Dwigbijoy Biswas, local elite and president of the 35-member Fair Management Committee informed that the Fair was began in 1748. People and followers of Awlia Ma Sonai Chand from Agoiljhara, Gournadi, Wazirpur, Banaripara, Bakerganj upazilas of Barisal, Dasar, Kalkini of Madaripur, Kotalipara of Gopalganj areas join and visit the fair and participated in marble-playing competition surrounding about 5 kilometers of the areas familiar as Sonai Awliar Bari, president of the festival committee added. Makeshift shops on crop-fields with different types of traditional sweet-meats, foods, fruits, toys, bamboo, cane hand made crafts, tea and grocery items opened at the fair. Special Nabanna feast cooked with 50 Kg rice-dust, 50 Kg molasses, 50 pairs of coconuts, bananas during the fair and festival and distributed as Prasad, sacrificed food, to the visitors, said Malina Rani Roy, Upazila Vice Chairman. Cultural functions like Kobigaan, Namsangkirtan, and Boisnav Seba also held during the fair. Shangkar Lal Biswas, Secretary of the Fair Management Committee, said this year they have started to construct a temple from donations.
Winter Festival held in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: A festival to celebrate the winter was held with hundreds of children, their guardians and teachers at Pilot High School ground in Tetulia upazila on Monday. In the festival, approximately 6,000 minor students from 38 educational institutions in the upazila were provided with warm clothes while their parents and teachers were also present. After the warm clothes distribution a cultural programme was held with performance of local artists. Every year Shishu Sharga Foundation with the aid from former students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) organise the festival to minimize the suffering from cold of underprivileged children. Shishu Sharga Foundation (Children’s Heaven Foundation) organised the festival where former secretary of Food Ministry Md Kaikobad Hossain, Additional secretary of Public Administration Ministry Din Mohammad, Dr Saidur Rahman Selim, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Tetulia Md Saniul Ferdous, Shishu Sharga Foundation’s founder Md Kabir Ahmed were present, reports UNB.
