Helper killed, driver injured as tractor overturns

A tractor helper was killed on the spot while his boss driver of the tractor was injured when their tractor suddenly overturned upon them at Chowrasta at Roghunathpur village under Chandpur Sadar on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Momin Pathan, 32, – son of late Ismail Pathan, a resident of Govindia village under Sadar Upazila. The injured driver was identified as Shohag, 32, resident of South Balia village under Sadar Upazila. He was admitted to Chandpur General Hospital from where he was referred to DMCH at night as his condition was stated to be critical by on duty doctor Asif Ahmed. Close relatives of injured tractor driver Shohag told this correspondent that the tractor Shohag was driving suddenly overturned while taking a sudden turn at Chowrasta in the village and it fell upon them killing Momin on the spot and causing grievous injuries to Shohag. Hearing hue and cry, the local people ran and rescued them both from under the vehicle and rushed them to Chandpur General Hospital where the on duty doctor Asif Ahmed announced that Momin succumbed to his injuries on the way and Shohag was admitted.
Yaba, liqid rescued, 3 peddler detained at Gafargaon

 District DB police raided separate places and arrested three drug peddlers from Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Saturday. Twenty five pieces yaba tablets and 3 litres wine were recovered from them. Sources said, on secret information, a team of DB police led a drive at Deega village of Rawna Union under Gafargaon Upazila and arrested a drug -peddler named Babul Mea son of Halim Uddin. Police recovered 25 pieces yaba tablets from him. DB police again raided Pouro area and arrested Sultan son of Intaj Ali of Jonmejoy village and Tafazzal, son of Habib Mea.Muhammad Abdul Ahad ,OC of Gafargaon Thana said, arrestees have been sent to Mymensingh jail.
Drug trader held with 2000 Yaba tablets in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged drug trader along with 2 thousand Yaba tablets from Ogrovulot Border area in Sharsha upazila of jashore district on Friday afternoon. The arrestee was identified as Ashraful Islam, 20 son of Kurban Ali of the upazila. Lt Col Imran Ullah Sarker, Commanding Officer of BGB-21 battalion said acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB raided a house in Asraful Islam at afternoon and arrested him along with the Yaba tablets. Later, the arrestee was handed over to Sarsa police station. A case was filed with Sarsa Police station.
Poem festival entertains Rangpur people
RANGPUR : A winter poem festival-2019 entertained a large number of common people of all ages at Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city on Sunday night. ‘The Anjolika Sahittya Potra’, a popular weekly literary magazine, organised the festival participated by noted writers, poets and lyricists belonging to different generations, educationists, literary and socio-cultural personalities. Editor of ‘The Anjolika Sahittya Potra’ poet Dilruba Shahadat presided over the festival where recitation of poems, self-composed poems and lyrics dedicated to the winter season entertained the audience. Noted writers and poets Mohfel Haque, Abu Jafar Abdullah, literary organiser and lyricist AKM Shahidur Rahman and educationist Professor Shariful Amin Kochi addressed the festival as guests of honour. Writers and poets Shahjahan Mandal, Reazul Nabi, Basher Ibne Jahur, Tasmin Afroz, Lutfar Rahman Shaju, Mahbubul Alam Sarker, SM Sathi Begum, Dr Nasima Akhter, Dr Ferdous Rahman, Mizanur Rahman, Selina Sattar Shelly, Mamtazur Rahman Babu and Golam Mostafa recited self-composed poems. reports BSS.
