4 BD men held while trafficking to India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained four Bangladeshi nationals including a trafficker from Benapole checkpoint on Thursday afternoon while illegally trafficking to India by showing fake C and F identity card. The arrestee were , Jasim Uddin, 52, son of Nuru Mia of village Mohishmari of Homna thana of Comilla district, The main trafficker Didarul Islam 32 son of Shahidul Islam village of Shakharipota in Benapole port police station, Sanumia, 50, son of Munsur Mia of Mugarchar village and Nasir Uddin 23 son of Sakender Ali.Victim Jasim Uddin said, BGB members detained them while trafficking to india by making C & F agents fake identity card of their three person in exchange for TK. 20 thousand through the main road of Benapole checkpost.49 BGB battalion commander Lt. Colonel Ariful Haque said BGB members arrested four persons along with 3 fake C & F cards name of Billal Trade Center in benapole Checkpost area. The detainees were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
Founding anniversary of Kalerkantha celebrated

The 10th founding anniversary of Kalerkantha, a Bengali national daily was celebrated here in a befitting manner under the auspices of Bagerhat district Kalerkantha Suvo Sangha on Thursday morning. The first phase of the founding anniversary of the daily started with a lively discussion meeting held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with Prof. Shaikh , Rabiul Islam, Vice-principal of Bagerhat Govt. P C College in the chair. In the address of welcome its (daily) Bagerhat correspondent Bisnu Prosad Chakrabarty explained the policy of the daily and the importance of holding the founding anniversary. Ahad Uddin Haidar, President of Bagerhat Press Club addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Adv. M Mozaffor Hossain, former President of the Club and Bagerhat Correspondent of English daily The Independent and Prof. ABM Mosharraf Husain, former President of the Club and Bagerhat district based correspondent of English daily The New Nation addressed the same as special guests. It was also addressed among others by journalists Ahsanul Karim, Israt Jahan, Nakib Sirajul Haq, Nurul Islam Mohon, General Secretary of Kalerkantha Suvo Sangha and member Nimai Sen. In order to mark the ceremony a founding anniversary cake was cut ceremonially by the chief guest.
Two workers injured falling from building

Two lift mechanics were critically injured after falling from the fourth floor of a multi-storey under-construction building when they were installing a lift in the building in Sylhet on Wednesday. The injured were identified as Rashid Miah, 25, and Ali Akbar, 22. They were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in the afternoon after rescued them from the spot in critical condition, the hospital police camp in-charge Faruk Ahmad said. Selim Miah, a co-worker of the victims, told the reporters that they were working to set up a lift at the under-construction building of Popular Diagnostic Centre and Hospital at Sobhanighat in the city. ‘A lift has fallen down suddenly from the fourth floor of the building after its strings were torn off, leaving Rashid and Ali injured critically,’ Selim added. SOMCH deputy director Devapada Roy told that the victims were admitted to the hospital and they were providing treatment with highest sincerity.
