Schoolgirl commits suicide in Barishal

Suriya Akter Eti, 16, a SSC examinee committed suicide at her bed room on third floor of Fatema Manjil in Karim Kutir Area of the city on Tuesday night. She was a student of Barishal Technical School and College and daughter of Motiur Rahman of the area. Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station on Wednesday said police recovering the dead body sent to SBMCH morgue for autopsy on early Wednesday. Quoting family sources police said Eti being sentimental as parents rebuked her about preparations for upcoming examination, hanged herself from the roof of the bedroom on Tuesday night. Guardians after awaking about her absence founding hanging body brought to SBMCH, where attending doctor declaring her as dead informed police.
Indian youth arrested with hundi money

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh detained an Indian national along with Tk 5, 00,000 soon after he entered into Bangladesh territory at around 12:30pm on Wednesday. The money was laundered to Bangladesh, said Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion. The arrested is Jakirul Gazi, 29, son of Shamsur Rahman Gazi of Joypur village under Bangaon police station in Uttar 24 Pargana district, India, the BGB CO said.The CO told that tipped off, BGB men led by Nayeb Subedar Abul Kahem Mollah carried out the raid at around 12:30pm along Benapole frontier and made the arrest and money recovery.
Properties worth Tk 20 lakh gutted

Properties worthTk.20 lakh were gutted when a big fire broke out at Mother Tresa Bazar of Kalshira Village in Chitlamari Sadar Union Parishad under Chitalmari Upazila on Monday night. It is learnt from the locals that at the night (at about 2 pm) somehow one of the shops of the market caught fire and it (fire) spread to its adjacent shops within minutes and went out of control. On seeing the flame of fire neighbouring people and villagers rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after 2 hours. But in spite of that 5 shops were completely burnt to ashes with their all belongings. The gutted shops included one grocery shop, one cosmetics shop, one shop of spare parts of machineries, one work-shop and one medicine shop. The owners of the gutted shops are Tuku Shaikh, Injil Shaikh, Shankar Bramma, Hafizur and Dr. Bazlur Rahman. Being informed of the matter Al-haj Shaikh Nizam Uddin, Chairman of the concerned Union visited the place of occurrence. He told, the matter was brought to the notice of Upazila Nirbahi Officer so that the fire victims can get financial support.
Youth electrocuted in Chandpur

 A youth died after electrocution in Kochua Upazila recently. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Rabbi Hossain 20, son of Md Anwar Hossain, a resident of Khila Village under 10 No Gohat Uttar Union -a remote area of Kochua Upazila. It was learnt from the close kin and playmates, Rabbi was working to connect electric line to the badminton field from his home through the branches of trees, for playing badminton game along with his play mates in his village, suddenly he came in touch with live electricity that shocked him tremendously and shouting, he fell down. At once, his playmates rushed him to the local health complex where the duty doctor declared him dead. A pall of gloom descended upon the village following his sudden death.
