‘War will continue’ as long as Ukraine govt in power: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday he saw no end to the conflict in eastern Ukraine “as long as the current authorities remain in power.”
“The current Ukrainian authorities have no interest in resolving the conflict, especially by peaceful means,” Putin told reporters at the end of the G20 summit in Argentina. “As long as they remain in power, the war will continue,” the Russian leader said.
Trump hopes to meet Kim in 2019

US President Donald Trump said Saturday he hoped to organize a second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in early 2019, perhaps as soon as January or February.
Trump told reporters traveling home to Washington with him aboard Air Force One from Argentina that “three sites” were in consideration for the meeting, a follow-up to their historic summit in Singapore in June.
Leftist Lopez Obrador sworn in as Mexico President

Veteran leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has been sworn in as Mexican president, vowing to see off a “rapacious” elite in a country struggling with corruption, chronic poverty and gang violence on the doorstep of the United States.
A major challenge facing Mr Lopez Obrador is managing relations with Mexico’s top trading partner, the United States, after repeated broadsides by President Donald Trump against Mexico over illegal immigrants crossing the US border.
Nepal wants friendly ties with neighbours

Nepal wants to develop friendly ties with neighbouring countries on the basis of “equality and justice”, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said today while inaugurating a summit attended by countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including India.
The Asia-Pacific Summit 2018 organised by the South Korea-based Universal Peace Federation and supported by the Government of Nepal will be attended by the leaders from the Asia-Pacific region, including India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Pakistan and Philippines.
Eight dead in SW China residential building fire

Eight people were killed and three more injured in a residential building fire early Sunday in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, local authorities said. The fire broke out at about 1:58 a.m. in a residential building for rural residents in Xishan District of Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan, the district publicity department said.
The fire directly caused five deaths and another three died after falling from the building while trying to escape from the fire, the department said.
