Tea seller crushed to death at BAU

A tea seller was crushed to death under a maxi cab on Mymensingh-Goforgoan at Sesmore area adjacent to Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek (40), son of Sammot Ali, resident of Sesmore area of Mymensingh and a tea seller of the same area. Witnesses said, a maxi cab was driven recklessly which hit a bicycle parked in front of Malek’s tea stall. The bicycle owner locked in an altercation with the cab driver. Seeing this, Malek came to solve the problem. But the driver began to quarrel with him. At a stage the driver grabbed the collar of Malek’s shirt and started to drive the maxi cab. When the maxi cab got full speed the driver loosed his collar and he went under the cab left him injured in his head. The respective doctor declared him dead when locals took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) immediately. On receiving information, Police captured the cab and it’s driver.

A seminar titled “People, Practice and Paradigm” held at Rajshahi University (RU) on Saturday on campus.RU Anthropology department organized the seminar taking the development of the folk knowledge into thought. RU Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the seminar at 10:00am at the University Senate Bhabon addressing as chief guest while Prof Faizar Rahman, chairman of anthropology department presided over the programme.Sukanta Sen, Executive Director of Bangladesh Resource Centre for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) presented the key note at the seminar. Speakers at seminar insisted to have adequate knowledge about anthropology among the countrymen as well as citizens for the sustainable development of the country.
Reception to cricketer Taizul in Natore

A good young cricketer Taizul Islam was accorded reception formally by MP Shafikul Islam Shimul of Natore Sadar. On the occasion, a function was held at Natore district Awami League office on last Wednesday night. Taizul Islam is an inhabitant of the Kathalbaria Moholla of Natore town. Shafikul Islam Shimul greeted with flowers and cash taka ten thousand for his glorious success in the field of cricket recently. He also wanted to help him for making his home.
