Dr Shama’s death anniv observed

Nurul Islam, father of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama demanded reinvestigation into the case of his daughter’s killing. He came with the demand on the eve of her 4th anniversary of death at a press conference held at Jashore Press Club on Monday noon. A human chain held in front of Jashore Press Club on Tuesday also came up with the same demand. Locals and colleagues of the late physician attended the human chain. Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin Shama was killed allegedly by the in-laws on November 13,2014. Her body was recovered from the Dhaka based residence of late lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan, also father in -law of the victim. In the press conference, Nurul Islam further demanded that his so did not commit suicide but fresh murder. A three -day programme was chalked out marking the fourth anniversary of the young doctor. The programmes include press conference, forming of human chain and doa mahfil. The case of Dr Shama is now under trial.
Meeting on Diversion, Children Act-2013 held

A meeting on Diversion and Children Act-2013 was held at CJM Judge Court Conference Room Khulna recently. Md Shahidul Islam, Metropolitan Session Judge, Khulna, officials of Police Department, and Department of Social Service were present at the meeting. ATM Zakir Hossain, Executive Director, JJS, delivered his welcome speech. Additional District Session Judge, Regina Akter shared her experiences on Children Act 2013 and diversion. Roles and responsibilities of Child friendly police officer and child help desk were discussed by Md. Yearab Hossain, Judge, Child Court and Additional Session Judge Court, Khulna. At the discussion meeting various issues and terms of Children Act 2013 were discussed in brief by Md. Amirul Islam, Respectable of Metropolitan Magistrate, Khulna. Jamil Hossen, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF, invited all to give priority to diversion. Abul Basar Mia, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Khulna participated at an open discussion. The Chief Guest Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury, District and Session Judge, Khulna discussed about the Act. Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Amirul Islam was the moderator of the discussion meeting.
IUJA condemns attack on BRUR journo

The Islamic University Journalists’ Association (IUJA) on Saturday condemned the attack on the journalist of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur. IUJA issued a press release signed by its president Abdullah Al Faruk and secretary Emran Shuvro in this regard. According to release, IUJA demand immediate punishment of the attackers who have attacked on the journalist. Mentionable that , a group of activists of BRUR unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League attacked Rabby Hasan Sobuj, correspondent of Daily Jugantor while he chased the activists of BCL unit for committing eve teasing with his friends on Friday night at the campus.
