Drawing competition held in C’nawabganj

Committee of the Concerned Citizen (CCC), Chapainawabganj of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) arranged a drawing competition of children at Shahid Satu Hall in Chapainawabganj town on Friday morning ahead of the International Anti Corruption Day- 2014 which would be observed on December 9. A total of 73 children in which 19 boy children and 54 girl children from different educational institutions participated in the competition, CCC sources said.During the competition, president of the CCC Advocate Saiful Islam Reza, CCC member Gouri Chanda Situ, area manager of TIB Shafiqul Islam, assistant manager Shahin Shahi and other members of Youth Engagement and Support (YES) of the CCC were present. Besides competitions the CCC has taken up elaborate programmes like rally, anti corruption game show, discussion meeting, prize distribution and cultural function on the International Anti Corruption Day- 2014, the sources added.

Man held with 4 firearms in C’nawabganj

Police arrested a man along with four firearms, seven magazines and 15 rounds of bullet at Tarapur village in Shibganj upaizla on Thursday.The arrested was identified as Babu, 25, son of Azizul Mekar of the village.Acting on secret information, a team of police conducted a raid at the village and arrested Babu along with four firearms, seven magazines and 15 rounds of bullet from his possession around 2.00 pm. A case was filed with Shibganj Police Station in this connection.

Meeting on govt’s dev works, vision held in Monirampur

To create awareness among the people about the development works of present government, a meeting was held at Monirampur Upazila Hall room of District Information Department recently. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sharif Nazrul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Humayan Kabir, addressed it as Chief Guest. Upazila Chairman Amzad Hosen Lavlu, AL secretary Golam Mostofa, UP chairman Sarder Hahadur Ali and Officer-in charge Molla Khobir Ahmad were spokes as special gust. Zilla senior information officer Gazi Zakir Hosen delivered his welcoming address. Journalist Abu Bakkar Siddque coordinated the meeting. Earlier a rally headed by DC Dr, Humayan Kobir paraded the roads of Upazila Sadar.  

 Int’l Trade Fair begins in Sylhet

A month-long International Trade Fair-2014 began at Sylhet Sadar upazila playground Wednesday evening. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the fair, organized by Sylhet Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the chief guest. The finance minister said that the country has witnessed huge development in the socio-economic arena in the last six years and hoped that the country would become a poverty-free country by 2020. Formar President of FBCCI A.K Azad, Central AL organizing Secretary Misbah Uddin Siraj, DC of Sylhet Md. Shohidul Islam, Administrator of Sylhet Zila Parishad and Sylhet district Awami League (AL) President Abdus Zahir Chowdhury Sufian, General Secretary of district AL Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police and Sylhet Range Mizanur Rahman. were present on the occasion as special guests on the occasion. MCCI director Hasin Ahmed Minto presided over the programme.
