Schoolgirl commits suicide in Jhenaidah

A schoolgirl was allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house after failing to secure pass marks in the test examination at Bishoykhali village in Sadarupazila on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Preeti Rani, 16, daughter of Pradipghosh of the vilalge. Quoting family members, police said the results of the test examination, prior to the Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSC) exam, from Bishoykhali Shaheed Mostafa School and College were published on Thursday. Being failed to secure pass marks in mathematics, Preeti hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of her house in the afternoon.
Jamaat leader held in Thakurgaon
THAKURGAON: Police in a drive on Thursday arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from his residence at Hazipara in Sadar uapzila in a sabotage case. The arrestee is Maulana Abdul Hakim, district unit Jamaat ameer. Tipped off, police raided the house of Abdul Hakim and arrested him in the evening, said Maniruzzaman, superintendent of Thakurgaon police, reports UNB.
