One jailed for eve teasing in Habiganj

A mobile court here on Monday noon sentenced a young man to six month’s jail for eve teasing.The convict is Tapan Sarker, 26, son of Ramendra Sarker at Kakailchheo village in Ajmiriganj upazila of the district.Local people caught him while he was teasing a schoolgirl in Chaudhury Bazaar area of Naricalhata.Later, sadar upazila nirbahi officer Umme Kulsum arranged trial of the man at the mobile court and he was sentenced to six months’ jail.
2 shops gutted in Fakirhat

Properties worth Tk.10 lakh were gutted when a big fire broke out at Ambagat bus stand under Fakirhat Upazila in the district on Sunday at night, according to a report received here. Locals reports that on the day at mid nigh the fire originated from a variety store belonging to one Aslam Shaikh of the locality spread to an adjacent medicine shop of a village physician named Mia Firoj and went out of control within moments. On seeing the flame of fire the neighbouring people rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for about 2 hours. But in spite of that two shops with their all belongings including a some of cash Tk.64 thousand, computers and medicines were burnt to ashes. The loss of fire is estimated at Tk.10 lakh But the cause of fire yet to be ascertained.
Man killed by beating in Jhenidah

A human hauler succumbs to injuries in a man’s beating at Jaluli village under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenidah. The victim is Khairul Islam, 30 son of Rabiul Islam of Jaluli village of the district. Khairul succumbed to Jessore City hospital on Wednesday early hours at around 4-30 am. Deads nephew Bablur Rahman said, three months back Khairul was going to bazaar loading vegetables of his neighbor some Azizul Islam. An altercation arose between Khairul and Azizul as his human hauler went out of order. At one stage Azizul beat on different parts of Khairul’s body. Later, he was rushed to Moheshpur local health complex.UP member Hasanuzzaman confirmed the matter. The elderly persons of the village arranged an arbitration and settled the matter by fining Tk 60 thousand.
Housewife stabbed to death by neighbour in Bogra

A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by one of her neighbours over extortion at Hapunia Matpara village in Sherpur upazila on Monday. The victim was identified as Salma Begum, 35, wife of Manur Uddin, a resident of the village. Manir said Salma received about Tk1.5 lakh from land sale from her father some days back and since then her neighbour Enamul, son of Motaleb Hossain, started pressing her to give him a certain amount of money, which she ignored.At one stage, Enamul stabbed Salma indiscriminately at a shop close to her house around 10:00am and ran away, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared her dead. Sherpur Police Station inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman said the killing might have occurred over extortion or disputed land. They were trying to arrest Enamul, he added.
1 killed in Bhola road accident
BHOLA: A man was killed in a road accident on the Bhola-Daulatkhan Road at Chaltatali in Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Saiful, 27, a sales exe cutive in a pharmaceutical company.Witnesses said the accident took place when a local human hauler was hit by a lorry in the area around 7:30pm, leaving Saiful dead on the spot and injuring six others, reports UNB.The injured were rushed to Bhola Sadar Hospital.
College student’s body recovered in Khulna
KHULNA: Police recovered a college student’s body from a Hotel in Barobazaar area in the city on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Istiak Ahmed Shovon, 20, fourth- year student of Khulna Polytechnic Institute.Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body at 12:30 pm, said police, reports BSS.
Sewing machines distributed among FF families in Jhenaidah

A total of 100 sewing machines distributed free of cost among 100 freedom fighter families in six upazila of the district on Tuesday.
