Motorcyclist killed in Sylhet road crash
A collegeboy was killed and his two pillion riders were severely injured as the motorcycle they were riding collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Gazi Borhanuddin road at Gazbaribazar in Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet on Monday. The deceased was identified as Ashraf Shamim, 19, son of Nasir Ahmed, and the injured are Moudud Ahmed, 19, son of Shahb Uddin and Mahibur Rahman, 19. All of them are first-year students of Kanaighat Govt College and hailing from Borodesh Khalpar Dakkhin village in the same upazila. Witnesses said the accident took place when an auto rickshaw rammed into the motorcycle at the place around 10 am, leaving the trio severely injured. The injured were taken to Kanaighat Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Shamim dead. Later, Moudud and Mahibur were shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital considering the severity of their injuries, family members said.

Police arrested Masum Billah, 30, a leader of upazila unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir, front organization of Jamaat E Islami Bangladesh, on Sunday early hours. Sub- Inspector Sagir Hossain of Gourndi police station, said Masum was son of upazila JIB former Amir (president) Mustafizur Rahman, and arrested from their resident at Char Gadhatoli, as a suspected accused of explosive case. Sub- Inspector Sagir Hossain, who was also investigation officer of the case, said local AL leaders and activists after holding a meeting at the house of Gournadi municipal mayor and municipal AL president Harisur Rahman Haris, went out to return home at about 8:45 PM October 25. AL leaders and activists when reached near the house of Badiuzzaman, upazila BNP leader, they came under attack by unidentified persons blasting explosives.

Jailer of Chittagonj Central Jail named Sohel Rana Biswas (45) was sent to Kishoreganj district jail in two cases field with Bhairab Bazar Railway Police Station on Saturday. The Senior Judicial Magistrate of Kishoreganj Abdur Noor passed the order. On Friday afternoon, Railway Police arrested jailer Sohel Rana Biswas of Chittagonj central jail reportedly along wih Tk. 44.40 lakh in cash, 2.0 crore FDR, a cheek for Tk. 1.30 crore and 12 bottles phensidyl syrop from Bijoy Express train at Bhairab Bazar Railway Station of Kishoreganj. Jailer Sohel Rana Biswas was returning to his Mymensingh house from Chittagong. Two cases were filed including money landraing in this connection with Bhairab Rail Police Station.

A mobile court of RAB led by Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed in a anti-narcotics drive at Bogadia area arrested 3 yaba trader recovered 48 yaba tablets from there possession. The court also sentenced 3 drug trader get two years jailed for yaba and fined taka ten thousand each. The convicted person were Md. Bahad (28) son of Md. Chand Mia, Mamun (24), son of Md. Shahidullah, Sumon (30), son of Abdul Hamid, all are village Bogadia Nagua. They were sent to Kishoreganj district jail.
Young man commits suicide in Chandpur

A young man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the pillar of the Train’s signal on the premises of Mehar Railway Station under Shahrasti Upazila very early in the morning on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as .Mamunur Rashid Lytton, 30, son of Md Aminul Huque , a resident of Debkora village under Shahrasti Upazila. Lytton’s close kin – his mother- in- law Rafeza Begum told this correspondent that three years ago, Lytton married her only daughter and he has a little son now. Gradually he became a mental patient. It is felt ,’due to his serious frustration, Lytton might have committed suicide’. Chandpur Railway Thana OC Md Sarwar Alam said, Lytton hanged himself with a rope made by him tearing up his own lungi from the Railway Signal’s pillar adjacent to Mehar Railway Station under Shahrasti Upazila. On getting information later, Chandpur Railway Thana Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and came back at noon 12.00 . Railway Thana OC Md Sarwar Alam said, in the afternoon, the body was sent to Chandpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy. A UD case was filed in this connection.
