Goats distributed to rehab beggars in Dupchanchia

Some seven goats have been distributed among beggars from different villages under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district on Monday. Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) SM Zakir Hossain, on behalf of Chamrul union Parishad, has distributed goats as the part of bigger rehabilitation project. Later, UNO also distributed ring pipe for welfare of human being, chair and table to the community centre as chief guest in the function. Upazila cooperative officer Ferdous Rahman, local chairman Alhaj Shajahan Ali, coordinator of one hose one farm Abu Bakkar Siddique and field super visor Asim Kumar Das were present in the function among others.
Woman dies after taking poison in Sylhet

A housewife died at MAG Osmani Medical College Sylhet after taking poison in Jaintiapur Upazila of the Sylhet district on Monday. The 25-year-old Raima Begum is mother of three children. Prima facie, woman drank poison owing to family feud. Action will be taken after filing complaint, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Model Police Station Khan Md Moynul Jakir said quoting locals.
RU former student jailed for giving proxy

A mobile court on Tuesday has sentenced a former student of Rajshahi University to jail for giving proxy for an applicant on the second day of the admission test. Rani Khatun, an executive magistrate of the court announced the verdict in presence of the student. The convicted student was identified as Munsur Ali, son of Nizam Uddin, hailed from Monigram area of Bagha upazila. He also was a former student of Histrory department of the university in 2010-2011 academic sessions. Munsur was sentenced to one year jail for appearing examination instead of the genuine student. He was held from room no. 425 of Sayed Ismail Hossain Siraji bhaban during ‘B-2’ unit test, said RU proctor professor Lutfar Rahman.
RAB detains drug dealer in Rajshahi
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5), in a drive, arrested a suspected drug trader along with huge amount of phensedyl from Railgate area in the city. The identity of the arrestee was not known immediately. Witnesses said that the youth is a professional drug trader as he served phensedyl openly in the area. Later, the drug trader was taken to the RAB office.
Two youths jailed for two- yr for Yaba trading

A mobile court of RAB- 14 led by Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed in a anti drug drive at Bagadia (Nagua) in Kishoreganj town on Sunday night and arrested two youths including Polytechnic student, recovered 12 yaba tablets their possession. The court 2 men get two years jailed, fined taka 10 (ten) thousand each for yaba connection. The convicted persons were Azaj Salman (19) son of Md. Jalil Imam, a student of Kishoreganj Polytechnic Institute and Md. Ovi (22) son of Md. Bachu Miah in Bagadia of Kishoreganj town. They were sent to Kishoreganj district jail.
Three ‘robbers’ held in Tangail
TANGAIL: The Detective Branch(DB) of police arrested three suspected robbers from Rabna Bypass area of Dhaka-Tangail- Bangabandhu Bridge Highway on Sunday night.
The arrestees were identified as Sagar Sheikh, son of late Juran Ali Sheikh of Gohaliabari village, Jabbar Mia, son of Tula Mia and Rafiq Fakir, son of Shahjahan Fakir, of Mahela village in Kalihati upazila of the district.
Acting on tip-off, a team of DB conducted a drive in the area on Sunday night around 11 am and held the trio while they were preparing for a robbery, said Sazzad Hossain, officer-in-charge of DB of Tangail north zone.
Police seized a pickup van, two machetes, one cutter, an iron rod, two rods and three phones from their possessions, reports UNB.
