Syed amir ‘mural’ unveiled at RU

A ‘mural’ remembering memory of Syed Amir Ali was unveiled at the Rajshahi University campus. RU vice chancellor professor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the mural at main entrance of Syed Amir Ali hall of the university on Sunday. It was made by three artists Sohan, Mosfiq and Bulbul. Professor Sobhan said, Syed amir Ali had kept a lot of contributions in field of English education for eastern Muslims. Amir realised only that there is no alternative way to go ahead without learning English education and the Muslims cannot get better jobs without securing proficiency in English. The younger generations will be inspired on idealism of Amir, also hoped Professor Sobhan. Among others, RU Pro-vice Chancellor Prof Chowdhury Mohammod Zakaria, Student Adviser Prof Laila Arjuman Banu, Proctor Prof Lutfar Rahman, transport office administrator professor Ali Haider, Hall Provost Dr Aminul Islam and RU Unit BCL President Golam Kibria were present during the programme.
25-member BSF delegate to be trained

A 25- member high level delegate of Indian Border Security Force has entered Bangladesh through Benapole land port on Monday. The BSF delegate led by deputy inspector general Soni Kumar will take part 10-day training entitled `border control management course’ scheduled to be held at Baitul Izzat Training Centre in Chattagram, said Lieutenant Colonel Afirul Hoque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion. The CO welcomed the BSF delegate at 11:40am on Monday as they entered into Benapole, the he added,’ it will tighten bilateral relationship between the two border forces.’ The delegate will return India through Benapole frontier on October 27, the CO further said.
5 maunds shrimp seized in Chandpur

 Five maunds of jelly- pushed prawns contained in packs were seized from a passenger bus at Horina Ferry ghat under Chandpur Sadar. Acting on a tip off, a mobile court led by ADM Abdullah Al Mahmud Jaman along with coastguard members searched in the bus and seized 200 kilograms ( 5 maunds ) of jelly- pushed prawns at Horina Ferry Ghat under Chandpur Sadar Upazila. Sources said, a kind of jelly is pushed into these prawns to make them weighty for the benefit of the traders. These prawns , contained in four packs, were allegedly being smuggled to Feni and Noakhali from Khulna area through this ferry ghat by a passenger bus. After search inside the bus, these packs were recovered. No owner of these prawns was however found. Later, these prawns were buried under the ground in presence of Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hasan.According to specialist doctor Golam Mahbub , these jelly-pushed prawns are harmful to consumers and they cause kidney and eye- sight troubles/ diseases. These prawns also cause cancer in human body.
