Bicycles distributed among girl students in Barisal on Friday under the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust Fund.The programme was held after the workshop about the development of education at Barisal Circuit House.Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser, senior secretary of public administration ministry, as the chief guest of the programme, handed over 35-bicycles branded as ‘Agradooti’ among the girl students.Md. Gaus, divisional commissioner of Barisal , presided over the workshop addressed among others by Nurul Amin, managing director, Dipak Kanti Pal, director of Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust , Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, director secondary and higher secondary education directorate , Prof. Ziaul Haque, chairman, Barisal Education Board, and Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner Barisal.

British Council and The Hunger Project-Bangladesh jointly organised a 4-day long “Active Citizen Youth Leadership Training (ACYLT) with the goal of creating a new generation of young leaders.” The programme was held at the TMSS Training Center at Joypurhat, from 23-26 November. ACYLT is a British Council programme that brings together networks of people worldwide and encourages them to play a bigger role in their local communities. Training Program conducted by Jakarul Islam, Regional Coordinator of The Hunger Project, Rajshahi Region, Masudul Karim & Ali Akbor Rubel trained facilitators of Active Citizens, the training focused on instilling fundamental leadership attributes among the participants. Through a series of exciting and interactive sessions, the participants shared their ideas and experiences, and contributed to intercultural dialogue.The training included several individual and group presentations on social issues through which participants demonstrated their creativity and communication skills.
Abducted schoolgirl rescued in Jessore
BENAPOLE: Police rescued a schoolgirl from a house at Baroanchra village in Benapole municipality area on Saturday, two days after she had been abducted. The rescued was Mousumi,14, a resident of the village. Matiur Rahman, assistant sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station, said Sagor Ali,22, son of Yusuf Ali, a resident of Tarminal Para, used to tease Mousumi on her way to and from school. On Thursday morning, a group of young men including Sagor picked up the schoolgirl while she was going to school. Later, the victim’s father filed a case with Benapole Port Police Station, reports UNB.
