College student killed in Gournadi road accident

One college student was crushed under wheels of bus at Gournadi on Barishal-Dhaka highway on Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as BCL activist Rezaul Islam Tamim, 19, son of Masudur Rahman of Char Gadhatoli and a higher secondary student of Gournadi Government College. Atiar Rahman Sheikh, officer in charge of Gournadi highway police station, acknowledging the facts said Tamim while driving motorcycle coming from Ashukathi towards Gournadi bus stand, a coach of Sakura Paribahon plying on Dhaka-Barishal route hit Tamim near Catholic Mission. Tamim sent to upazila health complex immediately at declared as dead by the attending physician at about 1:30 pm. Police succeeded to detain the bus at Batajor after chasing, but driver and staffs managed to flee. Dead body to the victim sent to Barishal SBMCH morgue for autopsy, police sources said.
Khulna Railway Station ready for traffick
KHULNA: Construction of long cherished modern Khulna Railway Station has been completed and ready for trafficking. The three storied Railway Station Building comprise of 1200 feet long three platforms, 4,000 square meter car parking space, link corridor,footpath and roads. Mosabbir Haque Biplob, Engineer of Tama Construction, Contractor of the Railway Station Construction Work, said that they will hand over the modern Railway Station to the Bangladesh Railway Authority soon after its inaugural. Project Director of the modern Railway Station Md Riad Ahmed said in 2007, the then caretaker government has taken ‘Remodelling of Khulna Railway Station and Yard’ Project. On January 26, 2014, the Executive Committee of Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project involving Tk. 60 crore, he said. Construction works of the project has been started on April in 2015, he said, adding that construction works period was extended till December 2018, reports BSS.
World Sight Day observed

The World Sight Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Sunday). In this connection, a colourful rally brought out from Kishoreganj Old Stadium. The procession paraded the main roads of Kishoreganj and ended at Kishoreganj Government Girls’ Orphanage. SP Md Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM was a Chief Guest while Deputy Director of Social Welfare Kamruzzaman Khan in the chair. It was addressed among others by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Torafder Md. Akter Jamil as special guest, Sadar UNO Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Director Md. Shidullah and Md. Ibrahim. Later a colourful cultural programme and prize distributed among the competition.
Clothes distributed for Durga Puja
Puja Uddjapon Parished, Kishoreganj District Committee arranged a cloth distributing among the poor people of Hindu Community held at Local Kalibari ground on Sunday evening. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM were attended as chief and special guest while Puja Uddjapon Parished President and Trusti Advocate Dholon Bhowmik in the chair. Hindu Kallan Trusti Advocate Dholon Bhowmic siad that cloth distributing among the at least 2500 poor people in 13 upazila of Kishoreganj.
