Udichi Conference held at Gafargaon

The 5th conference of Gafargaon Upazila Unit of the traditional Cultural organisation Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigushthi was held at Gafargaon on Saturday . A cultural function was held at Gafargaon Govt Islamia High School . Artist ATM Lutfur Rahman inaugurated this conference. Vice-President Ataur Rahman, of Mymensingh Udichi Sangsad, journalists, child organiser -Fakir-A- Matin, Md Nurul Islam Shikder-Headmaster of Gafargaon Govt Islamia High School, cultural personnel – Zobaidur Rahman Swapon, journalist Arshad Ahmed Asad, Azharul Haque and Sarwar Faraji were present as special guests in the programme. Udichi Gafargaon Unit president Golam Mahmud Faroki presided over the function . General Secretary Rubel Mahmud conducted the conference. Golam Mahmud Faroki and Rubel Mahmud have been selected President and General Secretary for the next two years.
UP member held with 27-kg silver in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday arrested a Union Parishad (UP) member from Parkrishnapur village in Damurhuda upazila. The arrestee was identified a Khairul Islam, 38, member of ward no. 8 of Parkrishnapur Union Parishad. Tipped off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Khairul Islam and recovered around 28 kilograms of silver from his possession, said Lieutenant Colonel Imam Hasan of Chuadanga-6 BGB. The market value of the silver is Tk 45 lakh, he added, reports UNB.
Fire guts factory, six warehouses in Munshiganj  
MUNSHIGANJ: A factory and six warehouses were gutted as a fire broke out at Komolaghat Bandar in Mirkadam municipality here yesterday. Zahurul Islam,a fireman at Munshiganj Fire Service, said the fire broke out at a plastic warehouse around 12am and soon engulfed the adjoining five other warehouses and a pulse factory. On information, four firefighting units from Munshiganj and Srinagar rushed in and put out the fire. However, it is not clear what caused the fire, reports UNB.
Father stabbed to death by son in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his son in a sequel to a family feud in Bochaganj upazila on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Tala Kisku, 55, of Hatrampur village in the upazila. Witness said Tala Kisku locked into an argument with his son Boidhho Kisku over a family dispute around 8 pm at night. At one stage of the argument, Boidhho Kisku hit his father by a stick and later stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot. Later, locals caught him and handed over to police. Abdur Rauf, officer-in-charge of Bochaganj Police Station, said a case was filed accusing Boidhho Kisku and the body was sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, reports UNB.
Man killed in gas cylinder blast in Bogura
BOGURA: An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and two others sustained injuries in a gas cylinder explosion at Jamalpur in Shahjahanpur upazila on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Farid Uddin, 45. Sub-inspector Rumman Hossain of Shahjahanpur Police Station said a gas cylinder went off with a big bang while being pumped air into it at a shop Zakaria Store around 11 am, leaving Farid dead on the spot and injuring the owner and a worker of the shop. Of the injured, the shop worker was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while the shop owner Khairul Islam went into hiding with the injury, reports UNB.
