Seminar on Tagore, Lalan held in C’naabganj

 A seminar on ‘Biswakabi Robindranath and Moromi Kabi Lalan Shah’ was held at Balugram Adarsha College in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila recently. The seminar was held at the Principal Belal Uddin Auditorium of the college. Presided over by the principal of the college Md. Matiur Rahman the seminar was attended by former chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Md Tanbirul Alam as Chief Guest. Dr Amarchandra Karmakar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Bangla of Gazol College in West Bengal of India addressed the seminar as chief speaker. Among others, Vice Principal of the college NSM Mahbubur Rahman and writer and researcher Prof Nanak Ranjan Das spoke on the occasion.

Advocacy meet of community health held

An advocacy meeting on Community health service with local peoples was held at Nikli Upazila Health Complex Auditorium organised by Care- Bangladesh and supported by POPI Shouhardo- III project on Sunday. Civil Surgeon Dr Habibur Rahman attended as Chief Guest while UHFP Officer Dr Asad Deen Mohammad in the chair. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Mujibur Rahman and Senior Medical Officer Md Halima Akhter were attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Dr. Abdullah-al-Safi, Family Planning Officer Md. Aftabuddin and Care officer Md. Tomijuddin.

College student electrocuted in Magura  

MAGURA: A college student died from electrocution at Shimulia village in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Mohiuddin, 22, son of Abdul Khaleq, a resident of the village and second year student of Magura Adaorsho Degree College. Mohiduddin received an electric shock while he was plugging on an electric wire for catching fish in a pond with an electric trap and died on the spot. An unnatural death case was filed, reports UNB.

Headmaster held over beef biriyani distribution among Hindu students

BOGURA : Police arrested the headmaster of a High School over the distribution of beef biriyani among students belonging Hindu religion in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Hannan, head teacher of Pirgachha AF Girls’ High School. Some 800 packets of beef biriyani were distributed among the students, including 42 Hindu ones, and guardians on the occasion of a mothers’ rally and reception on the school premises on Saturday, creating resentment among the Hindu community. On Sunday, the guardians of the Hindu students took position in front of the school protesting the incident, said SM Badiuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station. On information, a team of police went to the spot and arrested the headmaster and brought the situation under control, he said, reports UNB.
