Youth held with Tk 50 lakh at Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel seized Tk 50,00, 000 searching a youth at Putkhali frontier under Benapole port police station at 1:30pm on Sunday, said Imran Ullah Sarker, director, 21 Border Guard Battalion. The arrested is Bablur Rahman, 23, of Putkhali village under Benapole port police station. The BGB official, in a press release, stated that the BGB men picked up the youth along with the hundi money from Putkhali frontier. The press release, however, did not detail the information.
Bomb hurled at Sweeper Colony in Jashore
Miscreants exploded several bombs demanding extortion to the dwellers of Sweeper Colony near Jashore Railway Station on Sunday afternoon. The dwellers brought out protest procession and blocked Rail Road in protest, locals and the police said. Ranjan Sarker, resident of the colony told that miscreants hurled several hand bombs at the colony as the demands of extortion was not met at around 4pm on Sunday. But none was wounded in the explosion. Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station confirmed the information saying that the police went to the spot having the information.
3 ABT-JMB operatives held with arms, ammos
RANGPUR: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a top leader of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and two operatives of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB) with huge arms, ammunitions and ‘jihadi’ books from Lalmonirhat on Saturday night. Commanding Officer of Rangpur RAB-13 Battalion Md Mozammel Haque disclosed the information at a press briefing arranged at RAB-13 battalion headquarters here this noon. “A special operational team of Militancy Cell of RAB-13 conducted a raid at Bhotmari village in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat and arrested a top ABT leader with arms, ammunition and huge ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets from his house there,” he said. The arrested person is the Chief Coordinator and Dawa-e-Ameer of Lalmonirhat district unit of ABT Md Mehedi Saddam Hossain alias Sabuz, 22, son of Mostafizur Rahman of the same area. “The elite force also seized a foreign pistol with a magazine and two live bullets, a mobile phone set used for militant activities and huge quantity of provocative ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets from his possession,” Haque said. In two other raids, the elite force arrested two JMB operatives from Rasulganj and Courttoli area in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat with a foreign pistol, a magazine and one round bullet, two mobile phone sets and huge provocative ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets, reprots BSS.
3 held with arms in Faridpur  
FARIDPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a listed terrorist and two drug traders from Brahmankanda village in the district town on Saturday morning. The arrestees are Arafat Hossain Jewel, 38, an accused in seven cases and his associates Farzana and Arif, accused in drug cases. Md Rois Uddin, additional superintendent of Faridpur RAB, said on information, a team of Rab-8 conducted the drive and arrested the trio along with a pistol, one shooter gun, a magazine, nine rounds of bullet, a machete, two sharp weapons and 115 Yaba tablets , reports UNB.
