A new police camp building was inaugurated in Foyla of Rampal Upazila on Thursday. Presided over by OC of Rampal Sk. Lutfar Rahman, newly elected Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Alhaj Talukder Abdul Khaleque was present as Chief Guest. SP of Bagerhat Pankaj Chandra Roy, Additional Police Super Md Mahfuj Afzal , Upazila Chairman Sk Md Abu Said, Senior ASP Md Khairul Alam and UNO of Rampal Tushar Kumar Paul were present there as special guest. Ex-Upazila Chairman Mollah Abdur Rouf, Upazilla Vice Chairman Sk. Moajjem Hossain, Ex-Vice chairman Md. Hamim Nuri, Mohila Vice Chairman Hosneara Mily, Uzarkur UP Chairman Gazi Aktarujjaman, Upazila Awame League President Sk. Abdul Oahab, Baintala Union AL President Fakir Md. Clean Our Country Day’ observed in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: The Rajshahi event of “Clean Our Country Day” was observed here on Sunday in a bid to encourage cleanliness and protect environment programme. Hundreds of volunteers participated in a clean-up programme from Alupatty Crossing to Padma Garden amusement park in the city from 11 00 am to 1.00 pm. More than 100 young volunteers cleaned up open places, residential areas, roads, educational institutions, parks, rivers, and other public and private establishments. Youths from different social and volunteer organisations, educational institutions and locals participated in the clean-up programme in separate groups. The volunteers also created awareness among the people and encouraged them to keep their own areas clean throughout the year. “Poriborton Chai,” a social organisation, arranged the programme marking the “Let’s Clean up the Country Day-2018”. Afterwards, the collected filth and dirty were dumped into the filling point of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) at Borokuthi. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader, Principal of Rajshahi College Prof. Habibur Rahman, Divisional Coordinator of Poriborton Chai Atiqur Rahman, Professor Murshida Ferdous Binte Habib from Rajshashi University, cultural personality Kamarullah Sarker and Deputy Chief Veterinary Surgeon of Rajshahi University Dr Hemayetul Islam were present on the occasion, reports BSS..
Youth dies from electrocution in Jashore
JASHORE: A young man died after being electrocuted in Joypur village of Minirampur upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified asYounus Ali, 25, son of Yousuf Ali of the village. Deceased’s family members said Younus came in contact with a live electric wire while he was trying to clean leaves from an electric line. Later, he was taken to upazila health complex where the duty doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
