Discussion on Diabetes Service Day held in Mymensingh

 Dr Subhash Chandra Biswas, DC Mymensingh said that living and eating disciplined life can protect us from diabetes. He said, due to the adulterated food, polluted environment, and overall change in dietary and mechanical life, diabetes rates have increased rapidly in our country. He said, we need to be vocal now to protect future generation from getting rid of this horrific situation. He said this at a discussion meeting of the Mymensingh Diabetic Association (MDA) on the occasion of the Diabetes Service Day marking of the 29th death anniversary of the founder of the Bangladesh Diabetic Association, Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim as Chief Guest recently. Chairperson of the Senior Vice President of Mymensingh Diabetic Association, Shafiqul Islam Shafi, Mymensingh District Council Secretary Banani Biswas addressed the meeting as the special guest, under the chairmanship of senior vice-president of Mymensingh Diabetic Association and freedom fighter Shafiqul Islam Shafi, and office secretary of the association Nazib Ashraf. He said in his speech that the next generation will be protected from diabetes by creating delicate food and pollution free environment. He said that resistance is better than remedy. Plantation programne begins in Mymensingh
 A day-long tree plantation programme was organised by volunteer organisation ‘Rakhal Bandhu Kallan Songstha’ of Mymensingh with local people at Gidhausha village, Sohonati Union, Gouripur Upazila, Mymensingh on Saturday. Throughout the day-long plantation programme , more than thousand saplings have been planted. Rehana Begum, Vice-President of Rakhal Bondhu Kallan Songstha and Mr. Mohammad Asadur Rahman, General Secretary of Rakhal Bondhu Kallan Songstha were present in the programme . The voluntary organization Rakhal Bondhu Kallan Songstha registered by the Department of Social Services are doing various welfare activities. The organization organized a free vaccination camp for local cattle on last July. The organisation has planned to provide these types of welfare services every year.
Minor girl drowns in Sylhet

A minor girl drowned in a pond in Isabpur village of Bishwanath upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Nilufa Begum, 3, daughter of Alamgir Hossain of the village. Locals said neighbours spotted the floating body around 2:30 pm. Later, they rescued the body and took it to the house of a local doctor who declared her dead, they added. A case of unnatural death was filed with Bishwanath Police Station, said Sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman of the police station.
