International Literacy Day observed in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj District Administration, Primary and Mass Education Department arranged a discussion, rally and cultural function marking the International Literacy Day on Saturday. A discussion on “Literacy in a Skilled and Development” was held at collectorate conference room on Saturday. DC Md Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury was attended as chief guest while Deputy Secretary & ADC (Education & ICT) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil in the chair. It was addressed among others by Additional Police Super Md. Shafiqul Islam as a special guest, District Primary Education Officer Md. Sazzad Hossain, Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Faruq Ahmed, Assistant Director of Formal Education Project Md. Abdul Malek, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Kishoreganj Technical School and College Principal Engineer Ruhul Amin and District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal. DC Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said that the government is committed to ensure education for all to develop skilled manpower.
Drug trader gets two years jail
A mobile court of DB Police led by Senior Magistrate Abu Taher Sayeed in a anti-narcotics drive at Akrabazar area in Kishoreganj town on Friday noon and arrested one drug trader recovered 20 yaba tablets, many sexual tablets, pathidine injection. The court also sentenced drug trader get two years jailed for drug and fined taka ten thousand. The convicted are Alamgir Hossain (29) son of late Abdul Khaleq a bus supervisor MK Super. He was sent to Kishoreganj district jail.
Traditional boat race held in Narail
NARAIL: A traditional boat race jointly organised by SM Sultan foundation and district administration of Narail was held in the river Chitra in the district on Saturday afternoon. State Minister for youth and sports Dr Biren Sikder was present as chief guest at the inaugural function, while Khulna divisional commissioner Md.Lokman Hossain Miah, Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Shorab Hossain Biswas, Superintendent of Police Md Jashim Uddin were present as special guests on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner of Narail Mohammad Emdadul Haque Chaudhury presided over the function. The boat race started from Sheikh Russel Bridge in old ferry ghat of Narail town and ended at SM Sultan Bridge. A total of 22 boats from different places of Narail, Gopalganj, Madaripur and Khulna districts participated in the boat race, reports BSS.
