One drug, currency smuggler arrested in Nilphamari

An operation team of CPB-2, Nilphamari, RAB camp conducted an operation in Hatibandha Thana area of Lalmonirhat district on September 5, 2018, at 06:30 pm, 03 (three) bottles of coding Phensidile, cash 1,87,2 / (one thousand eight hundred Seventeen fifty rupees) Indian Rupee, 11 (eleven) Bhutani Gultram and 1 mobile set with drug and money trafficking 01 drugs and Drug trafficker Md Ariful Islam Raju (20), father Ashraob Ali, village -East Fakirpara, Thana Hatibandha, District: Lalmonirhat detained. Later, BJO-71009 DAD Mohammad Shafiqul Islam filed a case against a convicted accused in Hatibandha Police Station in Lalmonirhat district with a drug and money trafficking case and the accused was handed over to the police station. Md. Nazmus Shakib Assistant Superintendent of Police Superintendent of the Company said that the necessary legal measures are in the process of taking action.

Jashore Polytechnic Institute unit president of Bangladesh Chhatra League and 11 others were wounded in an attack by outsiders on Wednesday noon.
Of the wounded, Mahbubur Rahman Joni, Abdullah and Shaheb Ali were admitted to Jashore General Hospital while Shaped Ali Palash, President, BCL of the institute unit, M Parvez, Joint General Secretary, Manjurul Islam and Mostafizur Rahman were given first aid at the hospital. Shaped Ali Palash, president, Jashore Polytechnic Institute Unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League told that a number of outsiders attacked the students of the institution as the students protested the event of smoking on the campus at around 12noon on Wednesday. Bazlur Rashid Tulu, Medical Officer, Jashore General Hospital told that the students who get admitted at the hospital were wounded in knife attack. Sub inspector Faruk Hossain, in-charge, New Town police Camp told that he heard the information.
One held with 10 gold bars in Benapole
BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a man along with 10 gold bars, weighing 1.2 kg, from Amtala Gatipara bordering area in Sharsha upazila yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Hasanuzzaman Hasan, 30, son of Mainul Islam of Kharki area in Jashore town. Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 conducted a drive in the area and arrested Hasanuzzaman along with the gold bars, worth Tk 62 lakh, said Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Haq, commanding officer of BGB-49. The seized gold bars were deposited to Benapole Port Police Station, he added, reports UNB.

Police in a drive detained a total of 16 local leaders and activists of BNP from Goalbazar union parishad chairman’s residence in Osmani Nagar upazila on Monday night. Acting on a tip-off, police detained them while they were conducting a secret meeting around 10 pm, said Md Ali Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station. The arrestees are Osmani Nagar Upazila BNP ex-president Syed Motahir Ali, General Secretary and Dayamir UP Chairman STM Fakhar Uddin, Upazila Vice-chairman Gayas Mia, Goalbazar Union BNP President Syed Kawsar Ahmad, activists Sirajul Islam, Kayes Ahmed Chowdhury, Irshad Uddin Zillu, Abdul Mannan, Kamal Ahmed Parvez, Hadis Khan, Kamru Mia, Sarjan Mia, Sharif Ahmad Chowdhury, Abdu Kalam, Chhatra Dal joint conveners Rakib Ali and Atiqul Alam.
