Schoolboy electrocuted in Sylhet

A schoolboy died from electrocution and another sustained injuries at Asampara village in Goainghat upazila yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Mashuk, 12, son of Jahur Uddin of the village and a class VII student of Haki Sohrab Ali School, while the injured was Sohag, son of Shahjahan and class VI student of the school. Locals said Mashuk and Sohag came in contact with a live electric wire when they were cutting a tree beside their school. Masuk died on the spot and Sohag sustained injuries.
Private university staff killed in Sylhet road crash
A private university staff was killed in a road accident at Shamimabad in the city on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Rustom Ali, 36, an office assistant of Leading University. Akhtar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahporan (R) police station, said the accident took place around 10pm as the microbus hit him in front of Sonargaon Community Centre while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot.
GEIST regional meet held in Rangpur

A two- daylong Global Educators Initiative for Sustainable Transformation (GEIST) regional meet on Education styled Ensuring Quality and sustainable Education for all ended at Police Lines School & College , Rangpur on Sunday. Global Educators Initiative for Sustainable Transformation[GEIST] International Foundation, Bangladesh team and Rangpur Unit organised the summit. Academics , researchers , educators students and development activists joined the meet . Around 200 teachers and students from eight districts of Rangpur region took part in the meeting. Prof Dr KM Jalal Uddin Akbar, principal , Police Lines School & College, Rangpur attended the program as chief guest while Biplob Kunmar Deb, President ,GEIST International Foundation was present as Keynote speaker and Mohammad Shahed Ali, Chief Information Director and Brand Ambassador, GEIST International Foundation was present as Guest of Honour with GEIST Regional Director , Khurshiduzaman Ahamed in the chair.
5 shops gutted in Jashore fire
JASHORE: At least five shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Boro Bazar in the district town on Saturday night.Parimal Chandra Kundu, deputy director of Jashore Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire broke out around 10:15 pm and gutted the shops. On information, four fire-fighting units rushed in and doused the fire after one hour of frantic effort, said the official. However, the reason behind the fire could not be known yet, reports UNB.
