Bus kills trader in Sylhet

A trader was killed as a bus ran over him at Lalabazar on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway of the DakshinSurma on Tuesday. The deceased was known as Kamrul Islam, 45, owner of Shefa Pharmacy at the ground floor of Landmark Shopping Centre in Lalabazar. Though the bus fled the scene after the incident, agitated people blocked the road for nearly an hour. According to witnesses, a speedy Dhaka-bound MamunParibahan bus ran over Kamrul while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot. KhairulFazal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of DakshinSurma Police Station, confirmed the matter. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and removed protesting people to clear the road. The body was sent to Osmani Medical College and Hospital morgue, he added.

Rejowan Ahemd Tofiq M.P said, urged the people to cast their votes in favour of ‘boat’ the election symbol of AL in the next general election. Please do not make any conspiracy over the coming election.
Indian citizen held along Kurigram border
KURIGRAM: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an Indian citizen from Balahat bordering area Tuesday night for entering into the country without valid travel documents. The detainee was identified as Abdus Sattar, 50, son of Waheed Ali of Takimari village in Dhubri district of Assam. A regular BGB patrol team detained Sattar from the main pillar no. 1035 inBalahatbordering area along with 72 Indian soaps, some Indian currency and an oil container, said Subedar Rafiqul Islam, commander of BGB Chowddaghari camp. Later, the detainee was handed over to Kachakata Police Station on Wednesday morning, he added, reports UNB.
