Fake doctor held at Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Hospital

A fake doctor was handed over to the police by Sher-E- Bangla Medical College authority on Tuesday noon. The alleged fake doctor was identified as Saiful Islam, 24, son of Nuruzzaman Mia from Sagardi area of the City. `I passed Alim from Sagardi Islamia Madrasa . If any patient comes from my native village Bisharkandi area under Banaripara upazila of Barishal to SBMCH, then I try my best to help them for easily getting treatment from hospital, ‘ Saiful said. He also acknowledged that some times he also check blood pressure and examined pathological reports and then brought the patients to the concerned physician to get proper treatment. Dr Bakir Hossain, director of SBMCH, said Saiful was detained from the hospital campus, while he was engaged in treatment of the patients. It was also alleged that sometimes he also found operation theatre of the hospital busy in helping the patients. Besides it was also alleged that Saiful collected Tk1.3 lakh from the job seekers, assuring them to give employment in the hospital. `We will file a case against him, SBMCH director added. Nurul Islam, OC of Barishal Kotwali Police Station, said one stethoscope was recovered from Saiful and a case would be lodged by SBMCH authority in this connection.

VGF rice found in Jhenaidah ponds

JHENAIDAH: Huge quantity of rice meant for distribution among the ultra-poor under the vulnerable group feeding (VGF) scheme were recovered from three ponds in Haripur village of Sadar upazila on Tuesday. Being informed by locals, a team of local administration recovered the rice from the ponds, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Islam. However, it could not be immediately known who dropped the rice there, she added.Locals suspected that rice trader Azizul Islam of the area might have involved in the incident, said Khurshid Alam, chairman ofMaharazpurUnion Parishad. Azizul Islam went into hiding immediately after the incident, said Khurshid.Legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident, said the UNO, reportsa UNB.

Two held with arms, ammo in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two people along with arms and ammunition from Satrashia village in Chouka Bordering area in Shibganj upazila early Wednesday. The arrestees were identified as Shawkat Ali and Lokman Hossain, son of Sattar Biswas of the village. Tipped off, a team of BGB-59 conducted a drive in the house of Sattar Biswas and arrested two brothers along with four firearms, four magazines, four bullets, ten petrol bomb and 10 jihadi books, said Lt. Col Rashed Ali, commanding officer of BGB-59 battalion, reports UNB.

Two ‘arms traders’ held in Natore  

Rajshahi: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two suspected arms traders along with arms from Paschim Madhobnagar area in Naldanga upazila of Natore district on Thursday night. The arrestees were identified as Md Naimur Rahman Naim, 21, son of Md Ataur Rahman Ata, and Md Alhajj Mollah, son of late Majid Mollah, of Paschim Madhnagar village in the upazila.
