Drug trader held in Rajshahi

Police in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler along with phensedyl from Mirganj land office area of Bagha upazila on early yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Ripon Ali, 23, son of Murshed Ali, a resident of Alaipur village of the upazila. Tipped-off, a team of police conducted a drive and arrested Ripon with 10 bottles of phensedyl while he has been trading drugs the area, officer in charge of Bagha police station Rezaul Hasan Reza confirmed the matter. Ripon was sent to jail through the court order on Sunday morning, also added OC.
Victory rally held at Gafargaon

Thousands of students of Gafargaon brought out a joyous rally as Road Transport Law is approved in cabinet meeting recently. Students of different institutions such Gafargaon Govt. College, Altaf Golandaz Degree College, Gafargaon Mohila College, Islamia Govt. High School, Khairullah Govt. Girls’ High School, Rustom Ali Golandaz High School , J.M.Senior Fazil Madrasa participated in the procession. Barobaria UP chairman Abul Kashem, Md. Mafijul Haque- Headmaster of Khairullah Govt. Girls’ High School, Abdul Kader-Headmaster of Rustom Ali Golandaz High School, AL leader- Masud Hussain Sohel delivered their speeches in a meeting. The rally began from Khairullah Govt. Girls’ High School parading different roads of Gafargaon Pourosava and ended at Railway station chatter.
Workshop held on well learning of municipality slums

Civil Surgeon Dr. Aminul Islam were special guests while Kurigram municipality Mayor Abdul Zalil was in the chair. Around 80 participants including slums’ residents, the municipality Commissioners, NGO activists and journalists were present there. Selim Hossain Bhuiyan, National Co-ordinator of Horizontal Learning Programme of National Institute of Local Government, was facilitator of the workshop. The NGOs worked with 7 thousand 82 families of 22 slums of the municipality for reducing rate of child-death. In the purpose, supplying safety-water in low cost through pipe lines, increasing use of sanitary latrines and hand-wash, safety delivery service for mothers and their post services and increasing nutrition security for garments labourer families. In the workshop, the participants gave importance on five activities cluster-based water pipelines system, hospital-based delivery service for pregnant mothers, using sanitary latrine, washing hands for five works and supplying HPA (Health Promotion Agents) products in low cost. The municipality Mayor Abdul Jalil insured the workshop that he will continue the activities for the slums residents in free or low cost, such that they can lead quality healthy lives.
Snakebite kills schoolboy in Magura
MAGURA: A schoolboy died from snake bite at Bhatoail in Shalikha upazila yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Topai Biswas, 10, son of Parimal Biswas and a class V student of Bhatoail Government Primary School. Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shalikha Police Station, said that Topai died as a venomous snake bit him while he was sleeping at his room in early hours, reports UNB.
