Two held for alleged stalking, drug peddling in Barishal

Two sons of female madarasa super arrested for alleged stalking a madrasa girl and drug peddling in the city on Friday. Police rescuing the victimized girl with the help of locals arrested Zahidul Islam, eldest son of the owner cum superintendent of Zahidatunesa Mohila Madrasa at Sher E Bangla Road of Sagordi area of the city on early Friday. Later on Friday morning Asadul Islam, second son of that madrasa super also arrested as drug peddler after 38 pieces of narcotic injections recovered from his possession. Nurul Islam, officer in charge of Barishal Kotwali police station, acknowledging the facts said two separate cases has been lodged with this police station in connection of the incidents on Friday. Mother of the victimised madrasa girl as complainant lodged the case against Zahidul under section 10 of prevention of torture against women and children act.
Equal Rights distributed clothes at RU

Equal Rights, a voluntary organisation of Rajshahi University distributed the new cloths among the distressed children and women on Friday. Around 50 underprivileged children and women received the cloths from the University and its adjacent areas including Binodpur and the railway station at a programmee held at the University’s Rabindra Bhaban. President of the organisation Raj Kiron Das chaired the distribution ceremony while general secretary Anamika Saha Nupur moderated it. Besides, the organisation’s advisers- Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu of geology and mining, Professor Biswanath Sikdar of genetic engineering and Biotechnology, public relation office administrator Professor Provash Kumar Karmakar of statistics, Assistant Professor Fazlul Haque of economics and RU unit Pahari Chhatra Parishad president Dipon Chakma, addressd the occasion, among others. It is noted that, Equal Rights Organisation launched its journey at the University campus on last July 20 in 2018 with the slogan of “Sammer Sandhane Amra”.
Minor girl killed in Munshiganj road crash
MUNSHIGANJ: A minor girl was crushed to death by a battery-run auto-bike in Mirshwarai area of Sadar upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Shahina Akhter, 5, son of Idris Ali. Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the auto-bike hit Shahina at noon while she was crossing road on her way home after taking bath in the Dhaleshwari River, leaving her critically injured. Later, she was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital where doctors referred her to Dhaka. However, she died on the way to Dhaka, reports UNB.
Patient dies from panic after Kishoreganj hospital catches fire
KISHOREGANJ : A patient died after suffering a panic attack as a fire broke out at the blood bank of Kishoreganj 250-bed Hospital recently. The deceased was identified as Begum, 26. Hospital sources said the fire originated from a refrigerator of the blood bank at the Pathology Department around 5am. It burned down three refrigerators used for preserving blood, one air-conditioner, one microscope, two fans, two beds, necessary papers and furniture of the room.
A panicky situation was created among the patients and their relatives following the fire. Begum, who gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday through a caesarean section, died while the patients were being evacuated from the hospital. On information, a firefighting team rushed in and doused the fire after a two-hour frantic effort, reports UNB.
