JSC girl examinee killed by truck

A girl candidate of junior school certificate examination killed by hit of a vegetable laden truck at C and B Road -Boidyapara area of Barisal city on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Nadira Aktar, 13, daughter of Mustafa Sharif of Karapur area under Barisal Sadar upazila. Golam Rouf Khan, deputy commissioner (south) Barisal Metropolitan Police, confirming the report said police succeeded to detain the truck, but driver managed to flee from the spot.Sub Inspector Anwar Hossain of Barisal Kotwali police station and family sources said, the victim was a JSC candidate from Sabera Khatun School and going to her examination center at Karapur School. When she attempting to ride on a battery operated auto-rickshaw at the C and B Road -Boidyapara crossing, the vegetable laden truck hit her at about 8:45 am Thursday. She was rushed to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and there attending doctor declared her as dead.
Drug trader held with hemp in Chapainawabganj

RAB members arrested an alleged drug trader and recovered eight kg of hemp from his possession at Muslimpur village under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Tuesday night. The arrested person was identified as Md. Maidur Rahman, 45, son of Md. Israil of Kamarjogdul village under Nachole upazila of the district. RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB from Chapainawabganj camp raided the area at around 8 pm and held Maidur with the hemp. He was later handed over to the police of Nachole thana with a case in this connection.

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested two alleged drug peddlers in possession of 44 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from a house in Kalighat area of the city on Wednesday night. The arrestees were identified as Shuvo,22, son of Aftab Uddin, a resident of Mehdipur Sherpur village in Nabiganj upazila, and Abul Kalam Jamal,25, son of Badsha Miah, a resident of Etakhola village in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district Jebedur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of DB, said on secret information, a team of the detectives conducted a raid on the house ‘Moshahid Mansion’ in the area at about 7:00 pm and arrested the duo.
National Cooperative Day observed in Gopalganj

Beginning of the day national and cooperative flags hoisted by Md Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Gopalganj and Sheikh Masudur Rahman, President 43rd National Cooperative Day-2014 celebrating committee, Gopalganj jointly. On the occasion a colourful rally was brought out, chanting slogans and the rally paraded main road in the city. After rally a discussion meeting was held at district cooperative office premises in the city.
Motor cyclist killed in road accident in Rampal

A motor cyclist was killed on the spot in a road accident took place on Mongla-Khulna Highway near at Foila Bazar under Rampal Upazila in the district on Tuesday early hours. The deceased was identified as Mukul Shaikh (22), a peon of Kalia Govt. Primary School and son of one Jalal Uddin, former UP member of the village within Dema Union under thee district. Source added that that at the night Mukul Shaikh was returning home by a motor cycle and when he reached the place of occurrence he was run over by a speeding truck and consequently, he died instantly. Police recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
