Review meet on establishing Sheikh Hasina University held

A view exchange meeting on “development coordination affairs” was held at the conference room of Netrakona DC office yesterday. Deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy MP and secretary of the prime minister’s office Sazzadul Hasan and newly appointed vice chancellor (VC) of Sheikh Hasina university professor Dr. Rafiqullah Khan addressed the meeting as chief guest , guest of honor and special guest respectively while deputy commissioner Netrakona Main-UL-Islam was in the chair. It was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Prasanta Kumar Roy, Police Super Netrakona Joydeb Chowdhory, President of Awami League (AL) Netrakona District Unit Motiur Rahman Khan, general secretary of AL Netrakona district unit Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, Mayor of Netrakona Pourasava Nazrul Islam Khan, President of District Bar association Advocate Amirul Islam and Joint Secretary of AL Netrakona District Unit Nur Khan Mitu and Vice President of Netrakona Press Club Haider Jahan Chowdhory. They meeting discussed matters relating to progress of preparatory works for establishing the Sheikh Hasina Public University at Rajur Bazer area of Netrakona district town. The speakers assured the newly appointed vice chancellor of the university for extending their whole -hearted cooperation to the university authority for launching the higher educational institution.
Freshers’ reception held at Gafargaon Hurmat Ullah College

Fresher’s reception of Gafargaon Hurmat Ullah College was held at the college premise at Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Tuesday.Local MP Fahmi Golandaz Babel was the chief guest in this function.At the beginning of the function the students ,teachers received about 400 students with tube-rose. College GB President Mojibur Rahman presided over the function.Upazila Chairman Asraf Uddin Badal, UNO Dr.Shamim Rahman, OC Abdu Ahad Akanda delivered their speeches in this function as special guests. UP chairman demanded this college to enlist MPO. UNO urged the studentrs to be attentive to study. OC wanted co-operation from all to remove drug and eve-teasing from the society. MP Fahmi Golandaz Babel said, on behalf of the Government of development, peace and rich I congratulate and greetings to all the young learners.The present government has developed in the sector of education., the distribution of books free of cost, stipendto the girls, compulsory primary education, vocational education. He told the guardians to take care of your children that no children can become the victims of drug.They can not be attracted to the terrorism and militancy .They should come forward to the practice of brain and engage themselves to the service of the country. Fazlur Rahman , Adv.Matiur Rahman were also present in the function as special guest.
RMCH female student commits ‘suicide’
RAJSHAHI: A female student of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her house at Daspukur in the city on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Fahima Akhter Chandni, 24, an MBBS final-year student and wife of Salehin Rony. Quoting relatives of the deceased, sub-inspector Rafiq of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital police camp, said Chandni along with her husband lived at a rented house in Daspukur area as both of them were medical college students. Having no response from Chandni’s mobile phone till 11 pm, Salehin informed her friends about the matter. Her friends then went to her house and found the door locked from inside. As Chandni did not respond after repeated knocks, they broke into the house and found Chandni hanging from the ceiling fan. She was then taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 12 am. It was not clear what prompted her to commit ‘suicide’, reports UNB.
