Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Moscow’s military chief of staff will arrive in Israel later Monday for talks on the conflict in neighbouring Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu said at the start of a cabinet meeting that Russian President Vladimir Putin requested the meeting with Lavrov and General Valery Gerasimov “in a conversation with me a few days ago”.
Fire in residential bldg kills 5 in India

At least five members of a family were killed and few others suffered burn injuries Monday in a devastating fire inside a residential building in northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, officials said. The fire broke out during morning hours at Ner Chowk in Mandi district, about 127 km north of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.
Kabul suicide attack death toll now 23

The death toll from a suicide attack near Kabul international airport has risen to 23, the health ministry said Monday, with an AFP driver among the dead.
At least 107 others were wounded in Sunday’s powerful explosion, which happened as scores of people were leaving the airport after welcoming home Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum from exile.
22 killed in Vietnam floods

Heavy rain, flash floods and landslides triggered by Typhoon Son Tinh have left 22 people dead, 12 missing and 26 injured in Vietnam’s central and northern regions, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said on Monday morning.
Among 22 deaths, 11 were from northern Yen Bai province, four from northern Son La province, three from northern Phu Tho province, two from central Thanh Hoa province, and one from northern Phu Tho and Hoa Binh provinces each.
250 injured in Iran quake

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit western Iran on Sunday, injuring at least 287 people, hours after two quakes struck Hormozgan province in the south, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported.
Houshang Bazvand, governor of the affected province of Kermanshah, told IRNA that eight of the injured had been hospitalised and the rest were released after treatment.
